6 Things You Need To Know About the Entertainment Company Bringing Chris Brown to Kenya

The Spartan Group’s Sam Lentz recently spoke to Stevens Muendo of The Pulse ahead of Chris Brown’s African Tour and revealed some things about the entertainment company;

#1 It’s Spartan Group which brought Akon to Kenya recently for two successful concerts.

#2 The group is planning to bring Jay Z, Shakira, Usher and Justin Bieber as it has direct links with the artistes’ managers.

#3 Spartan Group does not benchmark ticket prices against the number of beers that could be bought for the equivalent of a concert ticket. This is what has made music promoters and artistes to keep off Kenya arguing that Kenyans value beer more than a fitting concert.

#4 The entertainment company is working to make sure that that ticket prices are affordable to all despite the fact that it’s expensive on their end to bring A-list artistes to Kenya.

#5 Spartan Group does not hesitate to seek support from the media and blue chip firms when organizing to fly in an international artiste.

#6 Despite having its HQ in South Africa, the group favoured Kenya for Chris Brown’s first performance on his Africa tour before he proceeds down south and later on Dubai and maybe Harare.

As a plea to other showbiz promoters, Lentz had this to say, “The problem here is that everyone is jealous of the other. People keep on backstabbing each other and end up tarnishing our showbiz image. Once these changes, the industry will grow. Fans are ready”

This New TV Show Will Sure Give Tahidi High a Run for Its Cash

Since its inception, Citizen TV’s Tahidi High has enjoyed some kind of “monopoly” being the only TV show that is based on the highs and lows of high school life. However, this “domination” is set to face competition as NTV is set to launch a new TV show like Tahidi High.

Known as “Break Time”, the show will hit the screens in December 15th and according to its producers, the show “one of a kind in Africa and its originality out of this world.” Based on best high school talents, the show will incorporate comedy by bringing on board some of the freshest talents in comedy scene.

The producers believe that Break Time will definitely give Tahidi High a run for its money considering the latter has become monotonous to Kenyan viewers while the former brings a whole new flavor.

Marya Talks About the Horrors She Witnessed in the Tana Delta

Marya has made some of the biggest hits in the lasts couple of years. From Chokoza to Sishiki Simu, which saw her as the only female Kenyan artiste in the East African category of the continental KORA Awards.

Besides the music, the beautiful singer also does a fair share of humanitarian activities. After the crisis in the Tana Delta, the singer, together with Red Cross other artistes, traveled to the area to console the affected.

“We went there and did a tour of the area. We were taken to a church where a bunch of people had been shot. There was a woman who had been shot with her child in her arms and the father was also holding part of the child. I was really touched by what I saw and I will continue doing what I can for the less fortunate. I love my country na najivunia kuwa mkenya.”

She is truly a beautiful soul. The Peace campaign is motivated to proactively inspire peaceful elections and a better Kenya for everyone. The ultimate aim of The Peace initiative is to contribute to building a foundation for a better Kenya in line with the new constitution and our aspirations as a nation.

Malonza’s DATING SHOW premieres tonight

Malonza, the Kenyan heart-throb from BBA Stargame, is the host of KTN’s new daring project: Tujuane.

Tujuane aims to be “An unpredictable dating show in which the hosts scout the streets of Nairobi looking to match make various single people encountered on the street.”

The premise behind this series is that, the host has first to pick an eligible male or female from passers-by on the street, and then with the presenters help, approach an equally eligible member of the opposite sex for a date. Once the match is made, a camera crew follows the recently introduced couple on a date to see if a ‘love-connection’ will be achieved or not.

The hilarity potential for this is HUGE. Not to mention Kenyans openness to participating in impromptu set-ups as we’ve seen with all the recent live-action/hidden-camera series popping up in various TV stations.

This seems like a perfect fit for personable eye-candy Malonza and introduces his co-host Chess.

Check out the trailer or the show:

The show has been given the prime-time spot at KTN of Friday nights at 8:00 pm. Will you be watching tonight?

Prezzo buys a house in Nigeria. So, it’s now official that he has relocated

Just before releasing his two new tracks that have that distinctive Nigerian taste, ‘Naija Girl’ and ‘LiqHer’, Prezzo announced through a Nigerian TV channel that he will be relocation to Nigeria.

Prezzo wants to keep both ties tight (Nigerian and Kenya). that is probably why he plans to spend equal amounts of time in both countries, Nigeria being his second home.

One of his representatives spoke to a Nigerian publication and this is what he had to say,

“Prezzo now shuttles between Nigeria and Kenya. For him, Nigeria is now his second home says Prezzo who recently acquired a house on the Island. He says he doesn’t want Nigeria to be a tourist center for him. He says he wants to “JFK” that is he wants to “Join force with the Kings” he felt he needed to be closer to his teeming Nigerian fans.
His website www.iamprezzo.com is set to launch tomorrow. He just wrapped up the shoot of his new video “Liqher” last week the video was shot by Gambit, he’s currently strategizing on the plans to unveil his charity organization which he doesn’t want to reveal now.”

Prezzo has been going through a lot of changes lately, including his new and improved celebrity look. Kinda like a Chris Brown thing. I’m liking this new Prezzo.

From Garbage Collector to Saw Dust Seller, Jaguar Talks About His Previous Jobs

Jaguar is one of the most successful artistes in the country having made Kigeugeu, the biggest song last year, and Matapeli, which has also blazed through the charts this year.

Before he made it big, he had his fair share of struggles. In a previous interview with 99 Degrees, he outlined some of the jobs he did before he got the fame that has now seen him as one of the six official artistes on the Niko Na Safaricom Tour.

“Kama kuna kitu imenisaidia kufika ile place nimefika na kuwa m-humble ni zile shida nimepitia kwa life. Yaani zimeni-teach tu vitu mob. I think hakuna kitu sija-try. Nimetry kuwa mechanic, nimefanya job ya tout, nimeokota takataka, nimeuza saw-dust. Yaani I think hakuna kitu zija-do kwa life. (If there is anything that has helped me get to where I am today and kept me humble are the things I’ve been through in life. They’ve taught me a lot. There’s nothing I haven’t tried. I tried being a mechanic, I’ve been a tout, I’ve done garbage collection and even sold saw-dust. There’s nothing I haven’t done in life.)”

Uncle Chim Tuna’s Open Letter To Gay Bashing Club, iyClub

Ghafla has never done a single negative story until today. But these are all my views and Ghafla shouldn’t be held accountable.

This is an open letter to iyClub and it’s management. You don’t know me. But incase you want to, i’m in a white tee today and it has two badges on the left side.

Because i am dealing with such myopia, let me first say that i am a heterosexual male. I can however empathize with the poof called Gerald* (not his real name) whom you saw fit to pursue and humiliate in another person’s place of business KENCHIC. To say that i was moved by the narration of what he must have had to endure is an understatement. I am disgusted!

angry_by_zalas.jpg

Here is a man of an alternative lifestyle to yours who is minding his own business trying to sate his hunger and your bouncer pursues him into Kenchic and begins to harass him. Is it a shocker that bouncers like politicians are some of the most hated individuals walking God’s Earth?

Why did publicly humiliating Gerald seem like a good idea to you? And to make matters worse for him, your theatre of the stupidity had it’s opening performance right infront of his sister! Why would humiliating him infront of his sister not to mention Kenchic’s clientele seem like a good idea? I forgot we already covered why it seemed like a good idea; you hire people whose iQ leaves us befuddled as to how they muster the mental activity necessary for bodily functions such as defecating!

I-CLUB_STUPIDITY.jpg
Enough of the bile but just for a second and not any longer. Let’s take a look at the facts:

#1. Gerald was minding his own and probably not even being gay. He was just paying for a meal.

#2. Kenchic isn’t your business so you weren’t minding your own. you are like a village milk maid who after milking even the bulls has nothing better to do than harass innocent Kenyans. Our offices are at Eagle House. If any gay walks in and you come after him i will be glad to show you to the exit… By throwing you out of the window but only because i want to save you from the shame of falling down the stairs!

#3. You then sent this response to Uncle Chim Tuna that said: “we repeat it again money from gays and lesbians patrons is not ALLOWED in Tacos or kenchic, if any gay or lesbian happens to be seen inside the club or kenchic will be throw out and taken authorities.take your money else where we don’t want or need u.”

And here’s why your response is a stupid one:

#1. Kenchic isn’t your business. And to think that the staff at Kenchic would allow you to harass their clients makes me think they not only deep fry chicken, they employ them.

#2. Gerald wasn’t being a nuisance. And he is a Kenyan. A Kenyan with rights like any other. His rights should be respected unless he was forcing his gayness in your face which he wasn’t. You have the right of admission only to iyClub. Not to Kenchic.

#3. Your response was what i would like to call grammartical garbage. Your English teacher must be so proud of you! You went through the education system and somehow managed not to learn how to write like an adult! Here’s a brick, now beat yourself unconcsious!
At the end of the day i cannot tell you how to run your business. You are an adult (even though you’ve exhibited the emotional maturity of a foetus) and can run your affairs as you see fit. Indeed, you reserve the right of admission into your premises but certainly not into Kenchic. And just to drive that point home i shall buy you lunch at Kenchic… That’s if they serve broken shards of glass and unicorn bile mingled with orphan tears.
Leave poofs, fairies, gays, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and leprechauns alone!

Here’s why Lavish Lounge is The Place for Any Party Animal

The latest hang out joint in town, the Lavish Lounge (formerly Club Heartz) on IBEA Building, Moi Avenue is the best hideaway in town for any party animal. Essentially, the club never closes its doors (unless it’s being closed) to its patrons. Every day of the week is party day for this club.

It all starts on Tuesdays where Tusker Project Fame 5 finalist, Lulu (also known as Esther) hosts the Karaoke shows where every singer gets a Tequila shot and a bottle of wine for the most cheered person. What’s more is that Smirnoff and Gilbeys tots have been slashed to just 50 bob while Johnny Walker Red tot is just 100 bob.

Tuesdays

On Wednesdays, the legendary DJ Stano of Venus FM (former Metro FM) gets behind the decks to drop the hottest reggae jams in what is dubbed “Winey Wednesdays”.

wednesdays

On Thursdays it’s Inferno DVJ’s of Hot 96 take you back in the day by playing legendary old skool jams. DVJ Static and his crew take over each and every Friday. On Saturdays, the renowned DJ Babu plays the latest videos on what is dubbed, “Saturday Night Fever”. The rest of the days, in-house deejay, DJ Chally takes the roof down with his mad mixes.

Prezzo Sings For The First Time EVER In His New Goldie-inspired Track

This dude is just full of surprises. Shortly after initiating his relocation to Nigeria, Prezzo has released a new track to complete this move.

As soon as I heard this new Prezzo song titled ‘Naija Girl’, I was taken aback. I immediately put it on replay and couldn’t stop moving my body to the very much danceable beats. Unfortunately, my colleagues in the office don’t feel the same. Good thing I’m not one to follow others’ perception.

I don’t know about you but I am definitely feeling ‘Naija Girl’. Prezzo released this track and one other after spending a lot of time with Goldie. I think it is safe to say that ‘Naija Girl’ was an inspiration from Goldie. How else would it be possible for the king of bling to hit such notes. Only a girl can make a gangsta sing. Not even the police. Trust me on this one.

Have a listen to Prezzo’s ‘Naija Girl’ below and give us your honest feedback.

Citizen TV’s Julie Gichuru Plunges into Fashion Business

You’ve seen how fashion conscious she always is whenever she appears on your television screens. Well, the gorgeous Julie has decided to convert her fashion sense into some real cash.

With her husband, Anthony Gichuru, as her business partner, Julie has decided to set up her clothing line business that specializes in both men and women wear. Dubbed “MIMI” Julie and her husband describe their clothline line business as “classic, sophisticated and trendy fashion.”

The business is expected to do well considering it has a special focus on maternity, plus size as well as shoes wear. What’s more is that as much as the merchandises are top quality; the prices are quite sensible compared to other outlets that deal in the same wares.

Defending her decision to make her business online rather than setting up a physical shop, this is what Julie said, “The high cost of rental properties in Kenya means that customers would have to pay much more for their merchandise. The business plan was therefore centered on the growing culture of online trade and commerce that is already fast developing. Additionally, going online offers increased accessibility to markets than a shop in a mall.”

Check out Julie’s merchandise HERE.

Have you heard DJ Saint’s remix of Alemba, Sadic and Juliani’s ‘Pages Za Bible’? Here it is

It has just been done and let me be completely honest about this. I am not a gospel music enthusiast but have always ended up falling for the really good tracks. This, ‘pages za Bible’, was not one of them.

However, I just stumbled upon its remix done by one DJ Saint and I have developed a liking for the track as if it was completely fresh (well, atleast the remix is).

This remix bring along a whole new and different feel to the ‘pages za Bible’ that you are used to. This here, according to me, is way better than the original (no offence to Alemba, Sadic and our boy Juliani. This is just honest feedback).

This track now sounds more like a humble gospel track with the new tune and all. Just lovely.

Have a listen below.

The just concluded Channel O Music Video Awards saw most of Africa’s greatest artistes perform on stage infront of thousands of fans and celebrities during intervals in between awards.

Our very own Camp Mulla was nominated for the Most Gifted Music Video of The Year but sadly missed out on the award, losing to Sauti Sol for their video with Tanzania’s AY, ‘Shukuru’.

That however did not stop them from giving their fans and competitors an electrifying show.

Check out these few photos of their performance we were able to find.

DKB apologizes and kisses Zainab’s feet for slapping the shades off her face (photos)

Remember these two from the concluded Big Brother Africa StarGame that took place a few months ago? Ghana’s DKB and Sierra Leone’s Zainab had a really rough time while still in the Big Brother’s house.

The two hardly saw eye to eye and when tempers could not be controlled anymore, DKB slapped the shades off Zainab’s horrified face. The video immediately went viral and this was now an African matter as everyone was on DKB’s face for slapping a lady. But was she? A lady? At that time?

Anyway, that ship sailed a long time ago. DKB recently came out on Ghana’s national television and apologised to Zainab infront of the whole country, live.

The huge dude got to his knees and kissed Zainab’s feet in remorse as she giggled through it.

Here, check it out.

Zuku invites you to the all Hyped East Africa Season Finale Live TV party at Sky Luxx

Zuku’s Hyped East Africa will be rounding up their epic TV series in Nairobi this Saturday (24th November 2012) and guess what… you are invited.

A hand-full of great Deejays will be seeing this event through at the Sky Luxx Lounge, Westlands, among them DJ Nijo, DJ Tibz, DJ Peter Moe and DJ Global. This should be evidence enough that music will not be anything near average but way above it.

As if that’s not all, P-Unit and Collo will be launching their much anticipated video for their track, ‘You Guy’ and it will be shown live on Zuku TV’s entertainment series ‘Hyped East Africa’ as its last episode.

The event kicks off at 9PM and honestly, it only ends when the sun shows up.

Here are some of the Red Carpet photos of the Channel O Music Video Awards

Africa’s biggest and most recognised music awards event was just concluded and I have to say that it was just as awesome as it was advertised to be.

All the ‘who is who’ in Africa’s entertainment industry showed up to witness the awards ceremony, whether nominated or invited. OMVA saw our very own Sauti Sol bring home the award for The Most Gifted Music Video. Camp Mulla was nominated for the same slot but unfortunately missed out on yet another award.

Here is some of that glitz and glamour that was at the Channel O Music Video Awards Red Carpet Reception in South Africa.

Ciku Muiruri Contemplating of Moving To The Star or The Standard After The Daily Nation Disappoints Her

Classic 105’s presenter is a disappointed woman this morning. The sources of her woes? The Nation newspaper’s Friday pull out magazine, Zuqka. Normally, Ciku has a column on the pull-out magazine known as “Ciku’s Beefs”, however, this morning, the column was missing.

According the brains behind “Busted”, she feel s that her “creative juices are being tossed into the dusk” and was considering calling it a day at the Nation Media Group and move to either The Standard or The Star. Ciku even wonders whether the newspaper is too conservative for her? “My column is not running today in Zuqka, another hilarious article killed by the Daily Nation… (Read it in Notes, will post it soon) Do you think they are too conservative for the likes of me? Should I call it a day and move to The Standard or The Star? My creative juices are being tossed into the dusk… :(” posted Ciku.

She went ahead to publish the article on her “Notes” on Facebook for her fans. Read it HERE.

4 Celebrity Man U Fans & What They Think Of Arsenal

Maina Kageni is probably the most vocal celebrity Man U fan out there. After the latest Arsenal-Tottenham derby, he had these choice words to say:

Ati now Arsenal fans like Howard Webb because Adebayor has been sent off.”

Larry Asego, a staunch Man U supporter, had predicted Arsenal to lose in their crucial Champions league match against German club Schalke04 this month. The result came in at 2-2, so Larry said this the following day:

“Good Morning Arsenal fans. I apologize I was wrong thinking you would loose. Kumbe you can hack a draw.”

Nimrod Taabu, CNN Award-Winning journalist from NTV, is yet another Man U supporter. One time, his colleague Ben Kitili called him out for ‘disappearing’ when Manchester lost, then resurfacing after a victory. To this, Nimrod replied:

“Si kwa ubaya. Was busy with other sensible Arsenal fans ones who know that Arsenal is done!. You still have faith, I’m amazed!”

Waihiga Mwaura, a sports journalist for Citizen TV and of course, a Man U fan, probably had the best Arsenal jibe of them all:

“Overheard… all Arsenal matches will now be screened LIVE on Cartoon Network until they get serious.”

Any comebacks from the Ghafla!Fans wa Arsenali?

Robert Alai Alleges That Musalia Mudavadi’s Son is Gay

Blogger Alai is back again. And you know what that means… Controversy!! So yesterday evening, “the certified screamer” as he’s commonly known, alleged that UDF’s presidential hopeful and Deputy Prime Minister, Musalia Mudavadi’s son is gay.

According to Alai, Moses Mudavadi’s photos on Facebook question the sexual orientation of the University of Brighton student. Alai even went further to tweet a photo of the DPM’s son with his friend alongside that of two gay guys making out.

This not the first time that the blogger is question the sexual orientation of a high-flying individual as early this month he tweeted claiming that presidential hopeful, Kingwa Kamencu is a lesbi*n after she was found in a compromising position with a Wanja married to a guy in UK making the two to divorce.

Keri Hilson Comes Out To Deny That She Insulted Africans

Yesterday the Kenyan online community was infuriated following a Keri Hilson tweet that directly referred to Africans as “starving”. The American R&B star has however come out denying that she insulted Africans.

An obviously annoyed Keri was shocked that people actually believed the fake tweet.

“Wow. People actually believe I’d say that? I woke up & saw a fake photoshopped tweet abt me dissing Africa?! C’mon man. Really? Disgusting.”

Read Keri’s tweet.

keri tweet2

It’s apparent that some forces are trying to ruin her relationship with Africans. And it’s unfortunate this comes ahead of her concert in Kenya and Tanzania. The tweet had really rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but she cleared the air. Here’s the photoshopped tweet;

More Top Journalists from Citizen TV & NTV Set To Join KTN

It seems KTN is not done yet in its quest to restore its lost glory. NTV’s Rita Tinina and Citizen TV’s Hussein Mohammed are set to decamp from their media houses to KTN.

According to the Jackal, the two are expected to be unveiled at KTN on December 15. Rita is attributed for being a great reporter who is comfortable in all languages as well as reporting as well as anchoring. Speaking to Jackal, a source from KTN also revealed that Hussein Mohamed is just the good old Muslim keen on his job. “You can count on Hussein to come to office sober and do a great story and then go home. He has no dramas.”

Already, Linda Oguttu and Joe Ageyo have left NTV for KTN and more journalists are yet to follow.

These Faiba guys have just taken away all the animation love from every other animated show in Kenya. They have totally gone H.A.M on their advertisement for their extra fast Internet connection.

They are locked onto the stone age times in their advertisements and still manage to find or should I say, create humor in it.

This right here is the latest of their hilarious animated advertisements.

SHOCKING! House-help caught on KTN Hidden Camera Masturbating (Video)

Yesterday evening, KTN aired a shocking expose about the ills that house-helps do when they are left at home with their bosses kids. In this particular incident, KTN’s journalist Lulu Hassan planted a hidden camera (baby cam) in the living room and in an appalling turn of events, the house-help places the baby aside and starts self-pleasuring herself.

After checking whether there was someone in sight, the ayah quickly starts masturbating forgetting that the baby was watching all this time and oblivious of the fact that her actions may affect the baby later. And when the baby seems to interrupt her “good time”, she sloppily carries it to pacify her.

The ‘Peace of Mind’ video by Khaligraph Jones and Mwakenya is finally out

It’s been a long time coming and now, the video is finally out. Mwakenya and Khaligraph Jones collaborated on this self mind speaking track titled ‘Peace of Mind’ a couple of weeks back.

The track brings out the paraglastic flow that these two rappers posses and from the minute the beat drops, you know you are in for a good one.

The video seems to have been done inside a room that was at that moment going through renovations, therefore bringing out the freshness and rawness that the track reflects. I love the rough effect the broken screens and radios display in the room.
