The Spartan Group’s Sam Lentz recently spoke to Stevens Muendo of The Pulse ahead of Chris Brown’s African Tour and revealed some things about the entertainment company;
#1 It’s Spartan Group which brought Akon to Kenya recently for two successful concerts.
#2 The group is planning to bring Jay Z, Shakira, Usher and Justin Bieber as it has direct links with the artistes’ managers.
#3 Spartan Group does not benchmark ticket prices against the number of beers that could be bought for the equivalent of a concert ticket. This is what has made music promoters and artistes to keep off Kenya arguing that Kenyans value beer more than a fitting concert.
#4 The entertainment company is working to make sure that that ticket prices are affordable to all despite the fact that it’s expensive on their end to bring A-list artistes to Kenya.
#5 Spartan Group does not hesitate to seek support from the media and blue chip firms when organizing to fly in an international artiste.
#6 Despite having its HQ in South Africa, the group favoured Kenya for Chris Brown’s first performance on his Africa tour before he proceeds down south and later on Dubai and maybe Harare.
As a plea to other showbiz promoters, Lentz had this to say, “The problem here is that everyone is jealous of the other. People keep on backstabbing each other and end up tarnishing our showbiz image. Once these changes, the industry will grow. Fans are ready”
