Ah, politicians. Idealistic men and women who want to make the world a better place, or corrupt men and women who are self-serving and egomaniacal. Whatever your view on politics, there is one aspect of the lives of politicians that takes up more column inches than even the worst of political gaffes. Newspapers gleefully expose every detail of a sordid affair slowly, gleefully smearing as many reputations into ruin as possible.
Political sex scandals are about much more than just people getting caught with their pants down. To many, they suggest that these people cannot be trusted. If they lie about having an affair, if they break marriage vows, then how can they be trusted on other issues? In some cases, these scandals are so damaging, they can destroy careers, or even bring down governments.
Last weekend,a little-known MP was unexpectedly pushed to the limelight after his mischievous little amorous acts were exposed by a female employee he wanted to,ummm,bang.
And to prove that the Juja MP was quite the beast,Susan Wambui even backed up her claims with some very disgraceful text messages the MP sent her for refusing to sleep with him before committing that very abominable task of SACKING her.
Well,that’s quite a sex scandal. But not quite as titanic as the ones that have happened before.
And,in that breathe,I hereby present to You 10 of the BIGGEST POLITICAL SEX SCANDALS EVER. From America to Israel to Africa to Italy To Asia. Truly,sexual transgressions no know race. Or boundaries.
1. DOMINIQUE STRAUSS-KHAN
He’s the former chief of the very powerful IMF. And a popular French politician who,before his sexual cases lid was blown,was vying to be French President. But Strauss-Khan’s career,both in politics and at the IMF was abruptly cut short after a trip he made to New York. Reportedly, after arrival to New York,Strauss-Khan attempted to grab and rape a black hotel waitress who then fled and reported him. He ended up getting arrested immediately and serving ignominious time in a notorious US jail. And while he was still in jail,many women came forward to say how he had coerced them for sex before. There was also evidence of sexual assault that Strauss-Khan committed towards his biographer,Tristane Banon,a French writer and novelist.
And even though his fabulously wealthy wife,Anne Sinclair,still stood by him,he lost his high-profile jobs,his public appeal,his political career and his dignity. FOREVER.
2.ANTONY WEINER
American politician Anthony Weiner,former member of the United States House of Representatives from New York City ,was involved in two sexual scandals related to sexting , or sending explicit sexual material by cell phone. How stupid! The first, sometimes dubbed Weinergate,led to his resignation as a congressman in 2011. The second, during his attempt to return to politics as candidate for mayor of New York City, involved three women,Yes three,Weiner admitted having sexted after further explicit pictures were published in July 2013.
The first scandal began when Democratic U.S. Congressman Weiner sent a sexually suggestive photo of his manhood to a 21-year-old woman from Seattle ,Washington via Twitter. Twitter??! Seriously!!?!
After several days of denying media reports that he had posted the image, he admitted to having sent a link to the nude photo, and also other sexually explicit photos and messages to women both before and during his marriage.
On June 16, 2011, Weiner announced his intention to resign from Congress. And finally did so on June 23rd 2011.
A second scandal began on July 23, 2013, after Weiner returned to politics in by entering the New York City mayoral election,when more pictures and sexting by him were released by the website The Dirty . Wiener sent the dirty photos using the fake name ‘Carlos Danger’ to a 22- year-old woman with whom he had had sex with back in 2012.
And as late as April 2013, more than a year after Weiner had left Congress,Weiner admitted sexting at least three women during this period,and sending them various photos of his naked manhood over and over again. These scandals destroyed Wiener.Forever!
3. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.
Arnold is a famous Hollywood Action Star and also a former Governor of California. Arnold had been married to his elite wife Maria Shriver for 25 Years. But that blissful marriage collapsed immediately Arnold confessed to his wife that he had not only been sleeping with but had also fathered a secret child with their househelp of 20 years,Mildred Baena. After this confession to his wife,with whom they had had 4 children,Maria left him immediately.
And their 25-year marriage ended that same year! Just like that!
It should also be remembered that in 2003,this same wife stood by her husband after numerous sexual allegations were made against Arnold.
Arnold’s 2003 campaign for Governor was rocked by the ‘Gropegate’ scandal – allegations from six women-Yes,six-who said he had groped them on movie sets, in studio offices and in other settings over the past three decades, without their consent.
In a series of interviews with the Los Angeles Times, three of the women claimed Schwarzenegger grabbed their breasts,while a fourth said he reached under her skirt and touched her buttocks.
A fifth woman said Schwarzenegger groped her and tried to remove her bathing suit in a hotel elevator and a sixth accused him of pulling her onto his lap and asking if a certain sexual act had ever been performed on her.
He survived that scandal. And got elected. But as history proves,You can never survive a scandal that involves sleeping with and fathering a baby with the househelp. Even Action Heroes do lose a fight. Now and then.
4. SILVIO BERLUSCONI
He’s the notorious mega-rich former Italian Premier and a famous sex connoisseur. Italian Prosecutors launched a trial against embattled Premier Silvio Berlusconi over accusations he paid for sex with a 17-year-old girl and then used his influence to try to cover it up.
Prosecutors revealed that the then 74-year old Berlusconi paid for sex with a young Moroccan girl,nicknamed Ruby, who was only 17, and then used his influence to get her out of police custody.
It was also revealed that Silvio Berlusconi used to organize and host secret hedonistic parties nicknamed “Bunga Bunga” at his home that would feature a lot of expensive alcohol, his wealthy male friends and hundreds of teenage Italian strippers….most of whom he’d end up sleeping with.
These notorious parties are still under very intense investigation by Italian prosecutors but it has emerged that Berlusconi has paid millions of dollars to these young women to buy their silence and coax them into failing to testify against him.
Mr. Berlusconi,as we speak,has been permanently BANNED from holding public office. And his wife began immediate divorce proceedings, stating: “I cannot stay with a man who frequents minors.”
5. PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON
This is perhaps the BIGGEST sex scandal ever! Involving the biggest political office in the World.
The Lewinsky scandal was a political sex scandal emerging in 1998, from a sexual relationship between the married 49-year-old United States President Bill Clinton and a 22-year-old White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.
The news of this extra- marital affair and the resulting investigation eventually led to the impeachment of President Clinton in 1998 by the U.S. House of Representatives.
In 1995, Monica Lewinsky,was hired to work as an intern at the White House during Clinton’s first term, and immediately began a personal
relationship with him.
Lewinsky claimed to have had sexual encounters with Bill Clinton on nine occasions from November 1995 to March 1997.
After the scandal was exposed by the American press,Clinton was under intense pressure to respond. And on January 26, President Clinton,
standing with his wife,spoke at a White House press
conference, and issued a forceful denial in which he said:
“Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman , Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you”
Well,all this was lie. A stupid,costly lie because more sexual evidence was going to come. Including a blue semen-stained dress that Monica had refused to wash in order to produce as evidence against the amorous President. 6. GRACE MUGABE
While Robert Mugabe is not busy tripping and falling off stairs, he’s busy making sure that whoever tastes his wife’s cookie ends up dead. Very dead. And very fast!
Mugabe’s wife,Grace Mugabe,is a known philanderer who has had secret relations with men even while still married to the nonagenarian dictator.
One of her former lovers was Zimbabwean businessman Peter Pamire,who,after it was revealed he was sleeping with the President’s wife,lost his life abruptly in a mysterious car accident in 1996.
Another one was banker Gideon Gono who,it was also revealed,was cuckolding with the President’s wife. After Mugabe got to hear about Grace and Gono,he demanded the truth from Grace’s bodyguard who told him everything.
And then Mugabe organized to have the bodyguard poisoned and killed for hiding the truth from him for years. Its still not clear what happened-or will finally happen-to Gideon Gono. The man who actually ate the cookie.
But hey,a man who has the audacity to nyemelea Mugabe’s wife is a man who is afraid of NOTHING. But then again,his name is Gono. Rhymes with Ngono. Well,I am not surprised.
7.LARRY CRAIG
The Larry Craig scandal was an incident that began on June 11, 2007, with the arrest of Larry Craig —who at the time was a United States Republican Senator from Idaho—for lewd conduct in a men’s toilet at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport . Craig later entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct on August 8. As a result of the controversy surrounding his arrest, subsequent guilty plea, and pressure from his fellow Republicans,Craig announced his intention to resign from the Senate at a news conference on September
1, which was to become effective on September 30.
Craig,a married but closet homosexual,who would frequent the male washrooms across America to have sex with secret male lovers,was arrested on June 11 2007 by an undercover police officer after he,Craig,made sexual advances at the officer in a male washroom. He didn’t know that the man was an undercover cop.
And after indicating to the undercover officer that he wanted to have oral sex with him,the officer produced his Police ID and immediately put Larry Craig,a whole senator,under arrest!
Who gets arrested in a toilet??!? America America America!
Larry’s political career came to a screeching end. And,to this day,the shame and disgrace that the public trial caused him has never left him. Ever!
8. ABHISHEK MANU SINGHVI
Abhishek was a Senior Indian Congress leader and Congress spokesman who was caught in a sex scandal after the emergence of a sensational sex tape that was filmed by his former driver.
The tape showed Abhishek Manu Singhvi having very steamy sex with a female advocate inside the hallowed chambers of the Indian Supreme Court! Ate Whuaaaaaat!?!
Mukesh Kumar Lal, the driver of Singhvi for several years, was accused of filming the tape tape secretly and blackmailing Singhvi to make the tape public through media channels.
Singhvi approached the Delhi High Court for asking them to ban the tape alleging that the content of the tape was photoshopped. Acting on
Singhvi’s plea, the Delhi High Court banned the publication on broadcasting of the tape but the tape had already been uploaded on YouTube and Singhvi was deeply embarrassed.
The controversy made the Congress Party very disgraced and the party dropped immediately Singhvi from its media panel.
9.MOSHE KATSAV
Moshe Katsav was the President of Israel from 2000-2007 and even though I said that Clinton’s scandal was the biggest,I must add that Moshe’s scandal was the worst ever sex scandal involving such a high-profile Politician.
In March 22 2011,Moshe Katsav was convicted of two counts of RAPE of a female employee at the tourism ministry, where he was minister from 1996-1999. And jailed for 7 years.
He was also convicted of the indecent assault and sexual harassment of two other female employees at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem during his presidency.
The judges told the court: “The crime of rape damages and destroys a person’s soul … Due to the severity of the crime, the punishment must be clear and precise. The defendant committed the crime and like every other person, he must bear the consequences. No man is above the law.”
Katsav, 65,sobbed loudly and interrupted the judges repeatedly. “You are all wrong. It’s all lies … The women know they are lying. They are laughing at this judgment,” he said,crying.
The former president was also ordered to pay 100,000 shekels (£17,000) to the rape victim and 25,000 shekels to each of the other victims.
The rape victim, known in public as Complainant A, told the Israeli press:
“I am not vengeful, but I think the court should send a message. Regardless of how many years he spends in prison, Katsav will always be a villain. The number of years is not the issue here, but the harsh verdict, which proved that Katsav committed these despicable acts and raped me.”
Speaking on Israeli television after the sentence, Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, under whom Katsav served as minister of tourism and deputy prime minister said that it was a day of shame and pride for Israel .
“This is an extraordinary day in the State of Israel. This is a day of sadness and shame, but it is also a day of deep appreciation and pride for the Israeli justice system,” he said.
“The court issued a sharp and unequivocal ruling on a simple principle, that of equality before the law. Nobody is above the law, not even a former president, all are subject to the law.” Netanyahu added.
Wow! Rape??!? Mr. President?! Are You freakin’ kidding Me!?
10. ELIOT SPITZER
He was a former New York Governor who had became famous-and beloved-across New York for not only busting prostitution rings but also prosecuting prostitutes and their masters.
But his scandal proved to be the stupidest one of them all; The man who made a name for himself for ridding New York of prostitutes was himself busted transferring as much as $10,000 to a New York Prostitution ring. The man who had become famous for chasing out prostitutes from New York,and locking them up in jail,was himself exposed for not only having regular sex with a famous 22-year old prostitute,Ashley Dupre,but also paying her as much as $4,300 in cash! Using public funds! Gai Fafa!
$4,300 is equals to Ksh.387,000 by the way! Just for a night of….what???!?
Immediately after he was exposed Eliot called for a press conference and confessed his failures. Saying,
“I cannot allow for my private failings to disrupt the people’s work. Over the course of my public life, I have insisted – I believe correctly – that people take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself. For this reason, I am resigning from the office of governor”
After that,he faded from public life completely. And when he tried running to become the New York City Comptroller in 2013,he lost terribly.
Well,Mzee Francis Munyua from Juja is not the only politician caught up in these dirty streets of sexual transgressions. Others have been there before. And done worse things. Worse.
Still,I have a question,How come there is NO public outcry over the Juja MP’s conduct? And how is he still in office?
Man! What a country we live in. Shameful.
