Did Collo Rob A Bank? See The Colossal Wand Of US Dollar Notes He Was Spotted Flaunting (Photo)

If the cash was his, then Collins Majale aka Collo has added over a million bucks to his name. The rapper was seen flossing a bunch of American dollar notes.

Collo has joined the exclusive club of Sonko, Jaguar and a few other individuals who have a habit of openly showing off millions of cash.

But is it the case of hip hop culture where rappers like flaunting stuff that may not even be theirs? Well, whether it’s the case or not, Collo has certainly made folks talk about him.

The revered rapper was seen in a photo on social media displaying four bunches of hundred dollar bill. Each bunch had $ 10,000 dollars so in total, Collo had $ 40,000 or Kes 3.6 million on his hands.

That’s hell lot of cash, were they a thousand shillings notes, they would have filled a bag or two. So where did he get the dollars from?

Is Tanzania’s Ali Kiba Following In The Footsteps Of Hussein Machozi? Find Out Why The Singer Is In Kenya

Hussein Machozi is one of the few Tanzanian singers who have in the recent past shown their love and admiration for Kenya, its people and the resources it has.

The veteran Tanzanian singer even went a step further to relocate from his native Tanzania to Kenya where he established his roots and became one of us.

However, he never kept himself out of scandals. Last year reports surfaced that Hussein Machozi was a wanted man after he was caught eating the forbidden fruit with a prominent politician from the Coastal city of Kenya, Mombasa.

Machozi came out shedding tears for his innocence and said he has never done such a thing.

Well, tracing back his move to Kenya, Hussein Machozi appeared first on Mzazi Willy M Tuva’s Mambo Mseto show on Radio Citizen. It is on this show that he announced his arrival in Kenya and since then he has spent most of his time in the country.

Well, it now seems another Tanzanian veteran singer, Ali Kiba, is following in Machozi’s footsteps.

The two singers have been dealt a blow by the quick rise of singer Diamond Platinumz to fame and global recognition, despite their early entry into the industry.

Tanzania is no longer their best place as Diamond continues to dominate. Frankly, even their relationship is a shaky one as they keep throwing tantrums on each other.

It was late last year that Diamond and Hussein Machozi were embroiled in controversy over the song Mdogomdogo, with each singer saying it was their own work.

Well, Ali Kiba is in Kenya and was spotted at K1 with Mzazi Willy M Tuva during the premiering of the celebrated radio host’s event, Afro Beat.

So why is Ali Kiba in the country? Is he trying to establish his empire like Hussein Machozi has tried to? definitely, time will tell.

Here Is The Special Connection Between Betty Bayo And Standard Media Group CEO (Photos)

Talented gospel singer, Betty Bayo and Standard Media Group CEO, Charles Otieno, revealed their philanthropic side when they visited Siaya County for a charity mission.

Apart from singing, Betty Bayo has a passion for charity too. Her passion in impacting positively in the lives of others is something she shares with the Standard Media Group CEO.

With jigger infestation being a menace in most parts of rural Kenya, Betty and Charles visited North-East Ugenya in Siaya County to distribute shoes to primary school pupils.

KTN, NTV, Citizen Not Owners Of African Digital Network (ADN). Find Out Who The Real Owners Are And Why Kenyans Should Feel Cheated

Fresh details are emerging that Nation Media, Standard Media and Royal Media are not the owners of the digital disribution firm, African Digital Network (ADN) which they want the Communication Authority to give a digital broadcasting licence.

According to the Star newspaper, ADN is owned by two gentlemen, Timothy Charo Odhiambo and John Macharia Maina.

It is reported that the Registrar of Companies says that ADN does not belong to the three media houses as they purport and that it is not a registered company.

John Maina is believed to be son to Royal Media Services owner, SK Macharia while Timothy Charo Odhiambo is unidentified.

Documents in the registrar’s office indicate that ADN was registered in 1900, something the registrar says simply means that the company has not been registered.

The three media houses have been pushing for ADN to be given a license to offer digital broadcasting services to the three media houses.

It is believed that CA has refused to give the license because they do not who the real owners of the digital firm are.

The three media houses have been warned to get back to air or get their broadcasting licenses revoked.

Revealed: Digital Migration Saga Takes A New Twist As CA Threatens To Annul Broadcasting Licenses Given To 3 Media Houses

The digital migration logjam seems far from being brokered after the Communication Authority of Kenya issued new threats to three media houses whose TV stations have remained unavailable after they shut them down in protest of what they feel is mistreatment from the government.

Yesterday, CA chair Mr. Wangusi wired a letter to the three media houses demanding that they go on air immediately either through using Signet or PANG.

A close source revealed to Ghafla Kenya that authorities in the three media houses are now contemplating giving in to the freshest threats because it means that if CA good its threats, they will stop existing completely.

It is reported that the situation in the three media houses offices remained a dingy one after they received the directive, with the management clearly disgusted at the latest development.

Reports reaching us also indicate that stakeholders and advertisers in the three media houses are piling pressure on the management to do something about the impasse which has threatened to boil and spill over the pot.

Logo

So what is the move forward?

Nation Media Group, Standard Media Group and Royal Media Services have no option but to give in to the already piled up pressure and go back to air as soon as possible.

Kenyans are also an irritated lot for remaining in the dark as far as information is concerned, and majority are believed to be exploring other channels including getting more and more drawn away to the already broadcasting stations like K24 and KBC.

It is time something was done lest the situation becomes unbearable.

Former Presidential Aspirant Calls Kenyatta University Male Students Ugly

Kingwa Kamencu is an attention-grabbing character, she speaks her mind and says things that will scandalize a lot of people, she is brazen but she has no apologies to make. And many women live vicariously through her.

After offering 5 Million shillings for her love-pocket last Valentines’ the former Presidential Candidate paid a visit to an institution of higher learning KU and she did not hold anything back.

Kingwa_cover.jpg

This is what she wrote:

Kingwa.jpg

When I was a campus student, not a single day went by when I did not write a love letter to one of the campus boys, or attempt to rape a few that I would meet in the dark tunnels and alleys on weekends.
Yet today walking through Kenyatta university, I did not see a single handsome man! In fact, all I saw were ugly boys.
In fact, they were so ugly I had to keep my shades on the entire time and try not to vomit as I walked.
As I walked to the gate, the question ringing in my mind was, what is happening with our public universities?
We are supposed to be producing handsome men for export but instead here we are cultivating eyesores.
It immediately occurred to me that as chairlady of the Handsome Men of Kenya (H-MOK), this situation fell under my portfolio and remit.
Worry not, university students, as the young black fighters sang while fighting apartheid in South Africa: We shall overcome.

Lupita Nyong’o Back In High School (Photo)

Lupita Nyong’o became Hollywood’s ‘It Girl’ following her spectacular portrayal of Patsey, a slave, in Steve Mc Queens award winning movie, 12 Year A Slave.

In addition to her acting, Lupita’s ability to light up the red carpet with stunning gowns has made her a fashion favorite. Her charisma, smile and lady –like persona are one of the many things we love about Lupita. And as we found out, Lupita was very much the lady back in high school at St Mary’s Nairobi.

Here she is fourth from the right with braided hair, legs crossed and arms folded back in high school.

Ghafla Investigates: Kamlesh Pattni’s Dirty Little Hands Are In The Cookie Jar, AGAIN!

Kamlesh Pattni’s dirty little hands are back to haunt KAA and the Kenyan tax payers and this time, he is wielding bought power at the Ministry of Transport to because mayhem at KAA – all because he still wants to run the duty free shops at all Kenyan Airports.

In July 2014, KAA floated the duty free tender for the second time – this time it was contested by Dufry Internal and three other duty free companies from Dubai, Turkey and India. The Indian consortium – Flamingo is related to a lady whose father is a powerful figure at the transport ministry.
Dufry international won the tender, the three losers submitted appeals at the PPOA and the appeals were dismissed.
Enter, Pattni and his shady way – his new company Suzan Duty free (Formerly World Duty Free) – which hadn’t even tendered for the Duty Free shops went to court to contest the tender award to Dufry International on 4th February 2015, but since his company had not participated in the tendering process. His case was thrown out.
To take you back – on 01st August 2013 when KamleshPattni leases for shops and bonded warehouse expired at JKIA Old Terminal, KAA demolished the shops and evicted him. The authority needed the spaces for passenger use. The old bonded warehouse have since been replaced by the construction of the new Terminal 1A arrivals. The old shops have since been replaced by two airline lounges operated by Kenya Airways and Swiss Air (on behalf of BA, Swiss Air etc).

A month later, on a cold September morning in 2013, Kenyans were shocked to see a visibly shaken Pattni announce that he was relinquishing all his World Duty Free claims, suits and awards against KAA. In settlement for this move by Kamlesh Pattni, he was to receive the following from KAA:
o    4 shops at JKIA operated by Suzan Duty Free
o    1 bonded warehouse at JKIA Cargo Village
o    1 shop at Mombasa International

Kamlesh Pattni through Suzan Duty Free took up these leases as provided by KAA – but Pattni – the church minister – has refused to this date to honour his end of the bargain which was to sign consents relinquishing all his World Duty Free claims, suits, awards against KAA. The consents have never been registered in court, because the lawyer who is representing KAA insists that he must be paid 290 Million for him to register the signed Kamlesh Pattni consents in court so as to release KAA from future legal obligations with Kamlesh Pattni. Which is odd, because he is seeking a payment for a job he technically has not completed.

Sources say – he is working with powerful figures in the transport ministry to absolve Kamlesh from any legal obligation and thus allow Pattni to continue to pursue fresh suits and awards from KAA.
After Dufry International won the duty free contract, the contract between them and KAA was signed in October 2014. There were faulty clauses in the contract, and these were noted on 19th December 2014 and the CS instructed the KAA management to ensure these are amended. As instructed, the KAA management and lawyers negotiated with Dufry International and signed a new contract on 25th January 2015.

On 18th February 2015 two weeks after Kamlesh Pattni went to court to contest the Dufry International contract claiming that he has exclusive rights to duty free shops in Kenya – on the basis of an old contract with faulty cases; this contract has now been superseded by the one signed on 25th January 2015 – the PS Nduva Muli acting for his transport ministry ‘masters’ swung into action to ‘punish’ those who had drafted and signed a faulty contract with Dufry International. Problem is, what he was presenting was a void contract – as a new contract was signed in January 2015 – he wasn’t aware of this fact.

On March 18th 2015, without following the laid procedures and with pressure from the transport ministry being passed on to the newly appointed chairman – Mr. Kimaiyo and the board suspended the KAA leadership for awarding Dufry International with the duty free tender – based on a contract that was already void.
Kamlesh Pattni’s past contractual arrangement with KAA used to generate an annual income of a little over $90,000 – the current Dufry International contractual arrangement with KAA will generate a little over $350,000 annually. The transport ministry is well aware of the revenues KAA will gain by executing their contract with Dufry International, but they have chosen to allow Kamlesh Pattni and his bag of tricks rule their corridors.
The KAA board has appointed Yatich Kangugo (Airport Manager, Moi International Airport) to act as the managing director in the interim.

And They Say He Is Not The King! Octopizzo Conquers Paris

All those still having doubts as to who the king of Kenyan rap music is, better brace yourselves for Octopizzo’s reign as the emperor.

In as much as folks may still squabble over Octopizzo being the king, one thing they can’t make noise about is the rappers’ success, elegance and flair.

Many will agree Kendrick Lamar is better than Jay Z in spitting vibes but Beyonce’s husband is still the big man that everyone looks up to in the world’s hip hop.

Same case may apply to Octo. His success can’t be compared with that of any other Kenyan rapper. Crossing over to the part where he conquered Paris, Octo has released another dope song shot in the French capital city.

Dubbed ‘Mustard On The Beat’, Namba Nane’s new song is definitely a club bunger. The full version isn’t out yet but the teaser is a dope.

He made the French dance to his latest track. Check out the teaser below:

Shocking Homosexual Ritual Interrupted At A Funeral Service At The Coast

The world is full of absurdity! Some gay mourners caused a brawl at the Coast when they demanded to perform a ‘special’ gay ritual for their fallen colleague.

A burial for a man said to be a vocal homosexual rights activist turned into chaos as annoyed mourners unleashed their anger to a group of alleged gays who started performing obscene acts during the funeral.

According to the standard, the burial in Watamu turned chaotic when the alleged homosexuals asked the priest for permission to perform lewd gay acts at the graveside.

The alleged group openly started displayed their affection; holding hands, kissing and flirting with each another. It is also alleged the group wanted to perform sex for the deceased as a sign of their last respect to their fallen comrade.

The conservative villagers couldn’t digest the open display of affection by the homosexuals. They decided to teach them a lesson. The infuriated villagers descended on the group with any weapon they could lay their hand on forcing the homosexuals to flee for their dear lives.

Watamu police officers saved the day as they offered sanctuary to the fleeing homosexuals. Their action was condemned by both Muslim and Christian leaders from the area.

Robert Alai Viciously Lampoons Larry Madowo. Poor Guy

Social media has been awash with insults and loaded debates between those that support the digital migration and those who do not.

Those who are against the switch off and those that think that NTV, QTV, Citizen and KTN should have gone the digital way before the switch off. And then there are those of us who are caught in the middle, in the dark about digital migration and wondering what the hell is going on.

Anyhow, Larry Madowo took to his blog to give us his unapologetic and uncut opinion about digital migration. And what seems to rub people the wrong way among them Alai who had this to say:

Alai_Madowo.jpg

The problem with Larry is that he lacks even the most basic knowledge on broadcasting technology, media and IT matters. So he hides his shallow knowledge in ambiguity in his writings and just loud and angry pride.

So he assumes that his readers are so foolish that they need some shouting to drive sense into them. He has not matured with exposure. He needs to. Thanks Al Kags for educating him. I didn’t even know that he authored some blog post about the migration

The Fashion Rebel: Fashion Blogger:Joy Kendi, What Is So Special About This Girl?

Fashion rebel, I know you probably stuck out your tongue and rolled your eyes as you read this, the idea behind this series of articles is to celebrate the fashion people in the 254 who have identified their niche and do not conform with what everyone thinks is cool rather, they form their own trends and stick to them. The word ‘fashion rebel’ has itself been cliche-fied, rebels are not exactly crazy ragamuffins in the sense of the word , in fact that they are the complete opposite, they are the breed that provide the Fashion thrill by going out of the way of the ordinary folk, Meet Joy Kendi, ladies and gentlemen.

The curves on this one? There is something interesting about the way Joy Kendi styles herself,  She has struck her niche in uniqueness, she is hardly in high-end ensemble, but she has never looked drab, there exists a thin line between drab and fab, the ability to look fab in simple outfits is no mean feat, especially in retro-fashion, most women, in the way of aping trends  lose it . The other striking thing about Joy kendi is her ability to turn “thrift-shopping” into fab as effortlessly as this:

Check Out Some outfits from Joy Kendi’s memorable fashion moments.

There is something deeply sensual about this photo..

I was still skeptical about, black and brown until this..

Then there is this.

Some Jokes Are Not Funny! Chipukeezy’s Jest Will Shock You

The Churchill Show comedian went overboard to share a joke that will either annoy or please you depending with how you view it.

Jokes are part of our daily lives but there are some gag that may rub you the wrong way. For instance, the President started a noble initiative to launch condoms for children.

In as much as he had a good intention, his efforts infuriated some people who saw it as a spit on their faces. Crossing over to Chipukeezy, the comedian touched a ‘sensitive’ topic with his joke.

He openly talked about masturbation in a video that was widely shared all over the social media. Even though he devised a clever way of taking about it with his humour, the topic may still be annoying to others.

Chipu was explicitly talking about the benefits of jerking off. The excited funnyman went on to enlighten his female viewers on ways of knowing whether their boyfriends were addicted to self-stimulation.

This Is What Larry Madowo Got For Calling Kenyans Stupid

The candid NTV news anchor got emotional on his article and decided to call Kenyans fools for lynching the three disgruntled TV stations.

In his article that was published today, Larry Madowo lost his cool and decided to hit back at the mob that has been ruthlessly tearing KTN, NTV, Citizen and QTV for their stand regarding digital migration.

He called Kenyans ‘airheads’ who have become overnight analysts on all matters digital migration.

“Airheads who don’t even know what DVBT2 stands for became overnight analysts on all matters digital migration, speaking with comical authority on why Nation, Standard and Royal Media were resisting change.” Larry wrote in part referring to Kenyans who attacked the TV stations.

The urban dictionary defines ‘airhead’ as a stupid person. (i.e. there is air where brains should be).

Reacting to Larry’s article, Kenyans posted varied comments. Some agreed with him while others went on to strip him.

See some of the comments posted below:

Victor Kesa: Okay, Aghakan has some shares @NTV Kenya but Kenyans also have shares through NSE for both standard and Nation media group. We do not know who has shares in pang, is it the Chinese? That makes the others local NB: not mentioning signet just wondering How they allowed the chines to have more frequencies when they should be protecting us from them. I thought that was the reason for giving them a license anyway this is Kenya…

Rudhie Mucina: And who is going to buy those set boxes? Is it the same crowd that were being marketed the same set boxes that you guys switched off your channels for?

What do you take us Kenyans for? So we are expected to throw away whatever we are using right now when you guys decide that oh here are new set boxes that you Kenyans will be able to enjoy ntv ktn bla bla fish cake.

Tumechoka!hata sisi tunaeza goma and do without you guys. After all there is lives tream if ever we need you.Did anyone ask you to leave?arghhhhh *feeling angry*

Peter NK: As u said, never underestimate the power of ignorant people in large numbers…However u explain things to them, they assume you are attacking n opposing their government, they will never understand..it’s all about values, TV stations that know their value n that it has taken them a lifetime to build brand, cannot handover their rights or content to some shadowy distributors..the small new entrants are in a hurry to compete n build a name, what viewership do they command? How much have they invested in their company?

Cave Man: very true Peter, the three media stations are not against the migration from what I understand. The problem is how the digital migration has some unexplained loopholes that we cant understand. So, why should the licenses be under KBC and the Chinese firm. I support what the three media companies are doing because they struggled hard to build the reputation that they have now.

Steven Owuor: This is all bullshit. I still don’t understand why and how basic employees like Larry imagine that they understand the digital migration concept better than any other Kenyan out there. This argument and debate is at the Media investors level and has nothing to do with employees who tomorrow will get a job in another media station, including K24 and KBC. All rubbish.

John Ndungu: Even the dinosaurs, and they were huge, didn’t see it coming, and they are gone..

Patric Bensen: I still don’t understand why many other Kenyans are analysts of their own. Someone just searched DVBT2 on the internet to it in full. Your mum doesn’t know that. Stop pretending like you don’t care when actually you miss these 3 media houses.

The government has other reasons beyond digital migration and they’re all evident enough unless you think with your nose you won’t comprehend it.

Anyways good article Larry

Nish: No thanks to all your efforts and your employers’ NTV, KTN, and Citizen.. continue losing money.. how many times were you warned about digital migration.. nkt.. nonsense

Sigei: I can no longer define what is analogue and what is digital…..what is the difference btwn analogue and digital.Lets assume that the 4 affected stations will operate tomorrow under digital platform, can this mean that there will be a change in the way they have been operating?

Investorinpeople: By the time you are back on air, K24, KBC and the other less proud stations will have acquired the “mass appeal” that you are bragging about. In short – you will not be able to monopolize the market as you so desperately hope to. For 5 years what have you been doing to prove that you are pro-digital?

Mutie Mule: It is true Citizen, KTN and NTV are the biggest media houses in Kenya, but so was Kodak, IBM, Compaq….Your history is secure but our future is not. You are hanging on the balance the way Blackberry is against Samsung, Huawei, iPhone, Techno….

Kane: They ought to have switched off in 2009! The big 3 elephants have wasted more than 4 years burying their head in the sand! How can they claim to be industry leaders when they are behaving like luddites. We want better use of frequency, more choice of channels and higher quality reception. Adapt or die.

Those days of 2 hour long news bulletins and feeding kenyans with a menu of cheap Mexican and Filipino soap operas is over.

Ati now you are claiming to be a Kenyan company. Let us be the judges of how patriotic you are.

Jipange Larry, you and your colleagues need to work with your management to repackage yourselves.

Atiyahumphrey: you are a judge in your own case Madowo, trying so much to be objective…

Alfred Onyango: larry worry not of hecklers you have just stated facts you see how fang owners are on your neck

Nish: next time you are on air, please know your place, a mere employee.. your opinion on matters does not really count.. I repeat do your work as a slave and leave opinions to interviewees.. also try to learn from citizen Tv interviewers

Mathew: when will your set top boxes arrive and will they have a nationwide reach, we are waiting to buy them asap…..

Kenyan Rapper Nasty Bull Drops Another New Track

After releasing his comeback song “Ndoto Hizi” in late 2014 , Kenyan rapper Nasty Bull has dropped his newest track “Tabasamu” featuring sultry singer Red Pen.

Tabasamu has a fast tempo and is synonymous with most Mainswitch productions. Nasty Bull does the track justice with his good delivery with his flows matching well with the fast tempo, something that would challenge most rappers. Red Pen comes in with her unique voice giving the song that distinct sound that hooks the ear.

Nasty Bull is not a stranger to the Kenyan music scene, he first plunged into the industry back in the 2000’s where he had a stint at Calif Records. He is known for his hit song “Nikikupata” which he featured Kenyan reggae dancehall artist Shamir after which he took a hiatus from the industry to concentrate on business.

‘Ndoto Hizi’ announced Nasty Bull’s comeback into the rap scene and ‘Tabasamu’ is expected to cement his position as one of the most flawless Swahili rappers in Kenya. His mastery of Swahili and use of simple terms has endeared most Swahili rap fans to his music due to the simplicity of his lyrics.

Find Out Why Capital FM’s Amina Is Throwing Her Weight Behind Huddah Monroe

Socialite Huddah Monroe has been ridiculed lately for trying to pull a Amber Rose after she shaved her hair and allegedly enlarged her anterior and posterior to pull a completely new stunt.

Huddah, however, seems not to care what people say about her as she goes on to get what she wants using what her mama gave her.

And now she will be rejoicing after receiving a backing from one of the unlikliest sources in Capital FM’s Amina Abdi.

Speaking exclusively to Ghafla Kenya, Amina has jumped to the defense of Huddah, saying she should be left alone to do what she wants.

Amina has applauded Huddah as a go-getter and has challenged her to go and get more.

She wonders why people are ridiculing the socialite when they should be minding about their own businesses.

“Go for the money girl, go”, Amina added with a big chortle.

Here is the interview she had with Ghafla Kenya:

From Doing Odd Jobs In Industrial Area To Being A Billionaire. Meet Man Who Built The Third Largest Mobile Money Transfer Service in Kenya

Some stories when said sound like a fairy tale. But Duncan Oduor Otieno’s story is real. He is the billionaire who rose from a humble beginning to build a multi-billion shillings empire.

Duncan is the CEO of MobiKash; a mobile money Transfer service that works across all networks, participating banks and all biller merchants.

But before the flourishing entrepreneur started living life on the fast lane, he used to struggle to make ends meet just like typical Kenyan hustlers.

He came to Nairobi in 1996 to look for a good life. As usual, he was slapped with the bitter reality of the city; unemployment.

Jobs were hard to come by and soon Duncan was forced to scavenge for odd jobs in industrial area. He was lucky to land a job where he was being paid 82 shillings.

The struggling village boy in the big city opted to do farming to supplement his income. He was staying where Weston hotel is currently built.

                                   Duncan Oduor Otieno

From his savings, Duncan enrolled himself at Kenyan Collage of Accountancy (KCA) to do CPA. He proceeded to Catholic University for BCOM Finance before ending up in Nairobi University for MBA Finance.

Duncan worked for Post Bank and other banks before starting MobiKash in 2006. Currently, Mobikash has over 1.6 million customers and over 11,000 agents throughout the country.

It is also the third largest mobile money vendor in Kenya worth over a billion shillings.

Even with MobiKash still expanding, the young billionaire plans to retire in two years’ time.

Ida Odinga Explains Why Raila Wore A Torn Shoe

The internet was almost breaking down with a photo of former Prime Minister and CORD leader Raila Odinga wearing a torn shoe as captured by The Standard.

On Sunday, Raila was in St John’s Everlasting Gospel Church in Imara Daima attending a function but was spotted wearing a torn shot with a nice suit.

And as Kenyans wondered and others trolled, Raila’s wife, Ida Odinga, has come out to explain why her husband wore a torn shoe.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Ida has said that Raila’s shoe got torn when he knocked a stone at the church where he was attending a function.

Mama Ida has wondered why people are making fun of the incident saying that she has all along dressed Raila and there is no way she would allow her husband to leave the house with a worn out shoe.

Mama Ida asked if anyone noticed the quality of the suit her husband wore that day and if it was supposed to be accompanied with a torn shoe.

She lamented that as a fashionista her husband was on the receiving end of insults because of an accident that happened on Sunday.

“I have dressed my husband all these years and he has always looked smart. Is there a day you’ve ever seen Raila badly dressed? That was just an accident. I am a fashionista and I know how to dress my husband.”

Victoria Rubadiri Sheds Light On The Reality Behind Digital Migration Saga

The digital migration debate seems very far from over because now almost everyone is talking about it. It is one of the biggest media-government sagas to be ever experienced in Kenya in recent times as the fourth estate is torn between moving to digital broadcasting gradually or as the government demands.

While NMG, SG and RMS’s TV stations are still shut down, others like K24 and KBC are enjoying the monopoly, giving Kenyans what they want as and when they wish.

And now NTV’s Victoria Rubadiri has come out to shed some light on the contentious issues behind the saga.

Speaking exclusively to Ghafla Kenya, Victoria has admitted that since the shutdown viewership for the three stations has dropped significantly because they cannot now reach out to all people effectively.

The TV siren has, however, lamented the manner in which the government has handled the whole issue, saying that a lot of propaganda is being put across to portray the three media houses as being opposed to digital migration.

Victoria has said that what they are fighting for is authority to produce and air their own content, something that the government is opposed to.

She says that by allowing Signet and PANG to manage their content, media freedom will be curtailed and that media houses will be restricted on the information they will be relaying to the public.

The lass adds:

Caroline Mutoko Vs Larry Madowo. Who Is Telling The Truth? The Battle Is On!

Two great media personalities, Caroline Mutoko and Larry Madowo have waged a ferocious scuffle in a bid to convince their audiences digital migration is good/bad.

Who is telling the truth with their arguments? Caroline Mutoko on one side who is over excited with digital migration while Larry Madowo on the other hand calling it a ‘misinformation and analogue 3’.

After she took a dig on three disgruntled channels (NTV, KTN, Citizen TV) with her ‘Tyranny of Success’ video that went viral on YouTube, Caroline Mutoko is once again scolding the three discontented television channels.

In her latest video, ‘A Tantrum Gone Wrong’, the radio queen reminded the three they did a miscalculation by assuming their audiences would remain in darkness after they went off air.

“There is a lot of miscalculation on the part of the three media houses who figured mtatuona. Here is the thing, it’s not 1995, Moi isn’t in State House and there isn’t only one TV channel. We live in a world of so many options, it’s ridiculous! And TV and entertainment is also one of those!” Caroline explained.

She praised digital migration revealing how she was astonished to find out TV stations on digital platform anchoring prime time news in Luo and Kikuyu.

She further applauded K24 who she said were now boasting of being the ‘key players’ on digital platform reading news with chests high.

{youtube}O31XpqQOaSU{/youtube}

On his part, Larry Madowo went on a rampage with his article viciously attacking the bandwagon that fell for the new trick in the country, digital migration.

On his article, Larry sarcastically attacked Kenyans who he said have turned into a post doctorate-level expert on digital migration.

The NTV news anchor labelled all Kenyans who were ruthlessly attacking the three media house (Nation Media Group, Standard Media Group and Royal Media Service) on social media ‘The Analogue 3’.

“Airheads who don’t even know what DVBT2 stands for became overnight analysts on all matters digital migration, speaking with comical authority on why Nation, Standard and Royal Media were resisting change. ‘Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups,’ George Carlin once said. Looking at the vast wasteland of the Kenyan social media community, I finally understood what he meant.” Larry wrote in part.

Larry went on to explain the competition was on the content and not the platform used. He gave the example of M-Net’s East Africa-focused, Maisha Magic, which he said is being shut down only 5 Months after its inception due to floundering in ratings.

The revered anchor went on to clarify NTV, QTV, KTN and Citizen TV still had the mass appeal revealing the stations’ subscriptions dwindled the last time they tried using StarTimes and GoTV’s digital platforms.

“The forceful analogue switch-off was designed to force them(NTV, QTV, KTN and Citizen TV) into using these same providers(GoTV and StarTime) to reach viewers.” Wrote Larry.

So between Larry Madowo and Caroline Mutoko, who is telling the Truth? You decide.
