Last evening KTN went into depths to expose how the Kenya-Somalia border is too porous allowing infiltration of Al Shabaab militia who go on to kill innocent Kenyans like the recent Garissa attack which left 147 people dead and several others injured.

The expose painted a bad picture of the government and how it has thrown Kenyans to the dogs.

And now the affected Kenyans have aired their views following the expose, with majority venting their frustrations at the government whose mandate is to protect its citizens.

Here are some reactions which have made the expose a trending topic on social media:

After the ghoulish Garissa massacre that claimed 147 lives, Kenyan celebrities and other luminaries such as eh pope and president Obama streamed in giving their condolences.

Lupita was gravely silent on the matter just as she was during the untimely death of Fidel Odinga much to the disappointment of Kenyans and other celebrities such as Rapudencia .And her week-long silence over the Garissa massacre miffed a lot of Kenyans who subsequently launched an unabashed attack on her.

 

I don’t know if she bowed down to the pressure or she was just late on receiving the news. But Lupita has finally sent out her condolence Message. This is what she posted:

 

However Kenyans are still not satisfied, and have complained that the message came too late. The pressure of being a celebrity!

When You decide to throw a party,for whatever reason,you,the party-thrower, get to cater for drinks. And food. End of story. But well….It doesn’t always work like that. As You’re about to see…

Saturday night,local celebrities converged at the ritzy BEST WESTERN HOTEL in Hurlingham to celebrate the birthday party of prolific female DJ Pierra Makena.

Pierra,being the seismic DJ she is,had chosen the high-end,glitzy hotel as the preferred venue to throw her party as she celebrated the 30-something years or so she’s been in existence.

Good for her. Infact,Happy Birthday,Girl.

There was a mistake though; If You throw a party,and invite your friends over-especially celebrity friends-you are therefore REQUIRED by social law to cater for at least something. If not everything.

Especially if you throw the party at some luxurious,marble-walled,plush hotel ensconced in a rich neighborhood.

Makena invites her pals over at BEST WESTERN HOTEL,Hurlingham. But forgets to ask then to tag a drink along…as she would NOT be buying no drink for no freakin’ soul.

Her celebrity friends showed up. But were in for a rude,crude shock.

No drinks. In fact,No food either. Just the DJ and her smile. Waiting to be lavished and sang for….

Hours passed…and still,no one was passing drinks around. No sign of a bow-tie clad,clean-shaven waiter walking around with a blue tray full of champagnes and tots and cocktails and/or bitings.

Celebs were astounded. And one of them asked the good DJ…

“Yo,kwani there were NO drinks for the guests? Ama? We’ve been waiting for long bana….”

“Sorry…the guy responsible for drinks fell sick…and is now admitted in hosi. Aki sorry…there won’t be drinks in that case…the guy just got sick….bear with me….” the good DJ answered,unabashed.

Seriously!!? Isn’t that the lamest excuse ever cooked up!? You don’t even need brains to cook up something so thoroughly lame.

Some of the celebs in the house included….King wa Rap,Collo,Kristoff,Ciru Muriuki,Sarah Hassan,Bamboo,Buddah Blaze,Nimmo,Big Ted,Amani,singer Avril,The Late Saitoti’s son,former Tujuane host Yvonne Bulimo na kadhalika.

For his part,the King of Rap Collo,sources say,spent the entire night hopping from table to table taking photos and selfies and whatnot…He never settled down. Neither did he handle a single drink…Either he wouldn’t afford the highly-priced drinks or he just looooves photography too much.

Sarah Hassan,or Tanya,for most of you Tahidi High buffs,never handled a drink either. We know she makes serious money but we’re NOT sure why she wouldn’t buy herself a drink….after the good DJ had failed in her responsibilities. Sarah Hassan,the curvy sexpot, spent her night smoking on some shisha….all night…puff after puff after puff ….whiling her troubles into the air…circle after circle…

Bamboo,sources say,was the worst for wear….He only handled ONE drink all night. A single,simple TUSKER bottle. A Tusker @ BEST WESTERN HOTEL goes for roughly Ksh.500. Bamboo only did one drink…one freakin’ drinkkkk!!! Where is Victoria Kimani when you need her??!

Kristoff wouldn’t even be seen around….probably he had planned on spending all he had at the INGWE match at Nyayo Stadium the following day. Spent all his energy and cash and thus,he wasn’t allover the place….and wouldn’t be seen handling the Jamesons we thought he’s accustomed to. His table wasn’t even locatable. He played hide and seek all night…..Hiding from the bills and seeking salvation from Makena’s ruthlessness.

Big Ted,though,was the man of the night. He was allover the place….Quite literally! I mean,he’s like the size of 16 Pierra Makenas rolled into one. Big Ted’s table was buzzing…and teeming with all sorts of people. He was chafuaring the table like a typical mchafuzi in Kitale. I mean,he’s got the Government’s money. He was ballin’ hard. And living it up. Like the Jubilee operative he truly is…Hii pesa sio ya Babu yako banaaa…He seemed to be saying…

The late Saitoti’s son,too,was another baller. If a party host REFUSES to buy you drinks,you do the honorable thing; BUY YOURSELF DRINKS! And that’s exactly what Zachary Musengi did. He was buying ’em drinks…like a nonsense! Not sitting there counting his troubles….or wishing the good DJ wasn’t so mean. He actually arrived in a BMW X5 with a super sexy African rude gyal….Boy,you can’t top that …His hair,by the way,still remains uncut.

Yvonne Bulimo,sources say,wasn’t upto much. Probably she was waiting for the guy in the hospital to recover soon and bring the drinks over…trouble is,by morning,guy hadn’t recovered. And that means,Yvonne had nothing to enjoy the whole night besides her accent. Drinks,they art expensive…

Buddha Blaze,as I said,was there too…but sources say that the more shocking thing was that Huddah,oops,Buddha Blaze was there too. It was more shocking than the fact that he,too,almost spent the whole night dry. Drinkless….As he watched Pierra laugh and dance. To NO music.

Ciru Muriuki, did you really expect her to miss the party? Of course not. She was there in full swing with nothing but a pack of cigarettes; no money we presume. But one cancer stick after the other, she whisked the night away.

The party-despite the obvious absence of drinks-went on…the party host stayed on…clad in her tomboy TOM FORD apparel…the ‘sick’ guy in hospital responsible for the drinks,meanwhile,still stayed bedridden and the BEST WESTERN HOTEL incurred massive losses due to hosting a whole army of reputable local celebs that wouldn’t even changa thao moja moja and buy a mzinga.

Blame it on the ego. Or brokenness…or financial stinginess. Either way,last Saturday was a day full of shame…Pierra Makena takes the biggest blame…

Sweetheart,next time you throw a ‘party’ and are too broke or stingy to buy YOUR guests drinks and food,at least take them to a little less expensive party locations…places they can afford to sustain themselves all night. Without having to embarrass themselves. Or drain their ATMs.

Oh,and as for that “the guy responsible for drinks is in hospital” excuse,You can do better than that,Girl…I know You are a DJ but still,that excuse is dumb even by DJ standards…

Lakini let’s give credit where its undue…there was a cake. Infact,4 little cakes….all written “Happy Birthday Pierra”. And it seems the only thing that kept the guests going that night was the cakes…those 4 little colorful cakes…

Unlike most celebrities who have children who are spitting image of themselves, the case of Mother-in-law’s Celina is totally different; her daughter hasn’t taken after her at all!

If she doesn’t look like her pretty mom, then who did she take after? That’s the intriguing question some folks must be thinking of.

The daughter is equally beautiful at her young age. As a matter of fact, Celina has already declared she is her little diva.

But how come she doesn’t resemble her? The answer is simple, Celina isn’t her biological mother. (She as no daughter of her own to start with.)

They were once very close friends. Their friendship was even at some time rumoured to have to led to an affair between the two. So much was said about them then.

Mike Sonko and Rachel Shebesh are household names among many Kenyans after the two were embroiled in controversy when it was rumoured that they were dating.

The air was filled with the rumors but the two came out and vehemently denied the allegations.

But as fate is, the two (remember they are both married)could later terminate their friendship and each one of them went their own way.

It was reported that they had disagreed when Sonko realized Shebesh was in constant contact with former Premier Raila Odinga.

Shebesh also got that gubernatorial slap from Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero after she stormed his office with disgruntled county workers who demanded pay for the services they had offered.

These and many others plummeted Shebesh’s popularity and since then she has been quiet, with her friendship with Sonko clearly becoming sour.

And now Shebesh has re-surfaced to call Sonko names over his Sonko Rescue Team. The Sonko Rescue Team has received much criticism from all quarters and Shebesh has been the latest to throw a tantrum at Sonko.

Speaking in a function, Shebesh called Sonko an actor, echoing her colleague’s sentiments that he is using the SRT agenda to steal from Kenyans.

Sonko has however responded saying that the SRT was established in 2011 after the Sinai Fire tragedy that claimed over 100 lives.

12 days after the horrendous and agonizing massacre of 147 people in Garissa University College by Al Shabaab militants, KTN has exposed for the first time how the Kenya-Somalia border is porous and unmanned, allowing killers to tickle in freely from Somalia to carry out their heinous acts on our land.

KTN’s Wellington Nyongesa and Asher Mwilu traversed the Mandera region, a region that has been preyed and ravaged by Al Shabaab killers who infiltrate into the country, kill and flee.

The two went ahead to establish how Al Shabaab found their way into the Kenyan territories and it was here that the truth manifested itself.

The Kenya-Somalia border is unmanned and when it is, the police officers who do so only stay for a few hours and leave because of the poor conditions they live in.

Funny enough, Somalis cross the border when and as they want without undergoing necessary checks because police do not have proper equipment to carry out the checks.

And the duo went ahead to find one of the many Al Shabaab militants in Mandera and had an interview with him. He revealed that in Mandera alone there are more than 120 Al Shabaab militants who have special training to kill at will.

These shocking revelations were revealed before the Garissa attack which left 147 students dead.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero must be regretting why he left his job at Mumias Sugar Company to vie for the top seat in the capital. Regardless, even at Mumias he had developed cold blood with almost everyone as the sugar miller is now facing a massive decline thanks to the alleged corruption instigated by Kidero.

Ever since he became Nairobi Governor, Kidero has never really wowed many Nairobians and very few can afford to share a smile with him.

Some are already plotting how to topple him from the top seat as they eye for those they believe suit the seat.

However before they do that, Kidero is the centre of ridicule once again after doing away with roundabouts in a bid to easy traffic snarl ups in the capital.

However, it seems his strategy is awfully wrong as many Nairobians are crying foul of the dismantling of round abouts.

And as Kidero tried begging for patience from Nairobians, he rattled them even further and met their wrath face on:

Displeased Kenyans have questioned the delayed arrival of the well-trained, super efficient Recce squad to the horrific Garissa scene of carnage.

Many wondered why the government did not have a special plane for this special wing on stand-by. “How ill-equipped are we that we do not have a plane to ferry this unit in time” we wondered?

Well details have emerged as to why the Recce squad did not make it in time to get rid of the Al-Shabaab insurgents before their reign of terror escalated further. Apparently, the plane was being used for other businesses, non-official businesses, which is unlawful. While students were being annihilated left right and center, the plane that was supposed to be ferrying the Recce squad a Cessna 208B registration number 5YPOL was in Mombasa on private business after being hired out to a businessman.

Finally, it is now crystal clear that online activism is the last powerful tool we have to reach out to concerned parties to deal with situations that affect us either directly or indirectly.

Almost three years down the line, three men in Busia County were commanded to cut grass by the local chief after ambushing a young girl on her way home and gang raping her, causing her severe injuries and loss of dignity.

When the news broke out, an irate country rose in unison and launched a campaign aimed at having the culprits arrested and brought to book.

It was done and after a long wait, we can all afford a sigh of relief as justice is finally served to Liz.

The hashtag #JusticeforLiz is trending once again after the three suspects were served with a 22-year jail term after being found guilty of raping and injuring the victim.

Liz will sit back and know that finally justice has been served to her despite the sentence looking seemingly lenient to some.

While manya are applauding the Busia Law Courts for the sentence, others are feeling that the victims should have been convicted for a life sentence following their heinous acts.

The University of Nairobi student elections were conducted over the weekend and as highly anticipated, it was Babu Owino who clinched the seat for a third consecutive time.

The last time Babu Owino and his close rival for the SONU chairman seat faced off on NTV in a heated interview under the watch of Larry Madowo, it could be seen that Babu, as ever, was determined to clinch the SONU seat for a third consecutive time.

And as it turned out over the past weekend, the no-nonsense student leader toppled his closest rival for the seat to become the SONU Chairman for the third time in a row.

Babu has established himself as one of the most established student leaders in the country thanks to his tough-spoken nature and of course his wealth and resources.

He is believed to swim in colossal sums of money which he says he acquires from his various businesses.

The student leader has become, with time, a darling to many UoN students thanks to the manner in which he handles student affairs.

Babu garnered over 15000 votes against his rival who got 989 votes.

 

Risper Faith recently left her life of pleasure-seeking, self indulgence, booty shaking in clubs, social media and being a video vixen for the straight and narrow path.

Many thought it was her catastrophic appearance in the infamous Blaqy’s Video ‘Money-maker’ that drove her into hiding where she lived as a Hermit and subsequently sink into salvation, but she says that is not the case.

She says she got saved after her accident she realized that God had a purpose for her. The fact that she survived unscathed after she lost one of her companions, she figured that God had a purpose for her and that is when her journey in salvation began.

Yesterday, former news anchor passed away at t the tender age of 35 after a long battle with cancer.

Rose Mary Nankabirwa passed away at the AghaKhan hospital in Nairobi and the ominous news was broken on Twitter by NTV Uganda who wrote “Rosemary Nankabirwa has been pulled off life support. Her family has confirmed that she has passed on. May her soul rest in peace.”

Word on the street and various blogs is that Godfrey Mwampembwa, pen name Gado has been kicked out of Nation.

He was allegedly forced out of the media conglomerate for his anti-Jubilee sentiments. But Gado has claimed that the Jubilee government is not responsible for his exit from Nation Medai Group and the claims are utter hogwash, he has just taken a sabbatical leave .

A Nakuru hospital is facing the wrath of angry Kenyans after it refused to release a baby it has continuously held because his mother failed to clear hospital bills.

Baby Jeremy, who is not sick, has been detained by the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital after his parents failed to clear a medical bill which is well over Kshs.500,000.

The detention of the baby has attracted the wrath of Kenyans who have put the hospital on notice and demanded that the child be released with an immediate effect.

Babe Jeremy was admitted at the hospital after he developed breathing difficulties upon his birth but was treated and recovered well. However, his mother whose monthly salary is Kshs.10,000 was told to clear all the bills before allowed to walk home with her son.

When she failed, her son was detained and since then she has been forced to walk to the hospital every morning to be with her child.

The dejected mother told Nation that her friend gave her a title deed to get Baby Jeremy out of the hospital but the management rejected it and said it has many title deeds.

After the story was highlighted, Kenyans took to the social media to demand the immediate release of the child and made the topic trending on twitter.

For quite some time now, Milele FM’s morning breakfast show has been ruled by one very funny and entertaining voice of comedian Mogaka, husband to Nyasuguta.

Mogaka has worked with the likes of Vincent Ateya who has since left Milele and his current co-host Maggy Waithera.

However, Mogaka and Waithera have been ejected out of the morning breakfast show and their place taken over by Dr. Ofweneke and his co-host Ambia Hirsi. The two have been in the mid-morning show on Milele.

The two will now be joined by K24’s Alphonce Oladipo whom it is not clear whether he has ditched TV for radio.

The new changes and restructuring comes days after the station’s efforts to woe top talent from other radio stations hit a snag.

Ghafla Kenya exclusively reported early this year that Milele FM was on the run to acquire the services of KBC’s Bonnie Musambi and Radio Jambo’s Sir Bramwel Mwololo.

It later turned out that the two could not join Milele with the former turning down their offer based on the package they tabled while the latter received a hefty perk from his current station which kept him at the Radio Africa-owned radio station.

Mogaka and Maggy Waithera will be hosting the mid-morning show in a bid to improve ratings.

The restructuring at Milele FM has, however, been met with mixed reactions as some viewers feel it is a flop while others think it is a nice move.

Sarah Hassan recently took a final bow as the host of highly-rated wedding show ‘The Wedding Show’ on Citizen TV.

In her place came Nina Ogot , a lady who has huge shoes to fill since her predecessors are some of the best we have in the game ,Sarah Hassan and Nonny Gathoni.

Socialite Huddah Monroe has been living large ever since she first came to the limelight thanks to her participation in the Big Brother Africa, Africa’s biggest reality show.

The self-proclaimed boss of all chics has been traversing the globe all in the name of having nice moments and enjoying her wealth while it lasts.

And since last week, Huddah has been gallivanting in the niceties of Paris and its environs, this time round visiting the largest Church building in the world and praying for divine intervention.

Huddah is now spending nice moments with former Arsenal and current Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor in a Paris Hotel.

I have a love-hate relationship with Vera Sidika. Sometimes I feel like I’d spank her massive derriere and watch it shake with excitement yet at other times I feel like if I was in a chopper with her and we were flying over a crocodile infested river, I would push her out.

This past weekend, Kenya’s two most popular soccer clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia locked horns in what promised to be a cracking affair. Vera was there with er clique of bishes. Consequently, the thirst was at an all-time high. Hawkers selling mineral water had a field day. Business was so good that even the Shark Tank guys would have been interested.

Before the big game, word had spread quickly that the controversial socialite would be in attendance. She’s of Luhya decent just like me, so she supports Ingwee by default. A part of me wasn’t impressed by the idea. Was she on a mission to scramble for gigs among the football loving clientele? Maybe it was just a PR stunt aimed towards cleansing her tarnished name. Born Vera Nasike Wanjala in Namweyi, Bungoma county, she claims her support for Ingwee began during her high school days in Namweyi Secondary school. I highly doubt that. I don’t think she even knows even a single player’s name.

That aside, the other part of me just felt good that she was trying to use her bullshitting skills for good rather than for evil.

Unlike on previous occasions, things were different this time. In the past,  clashes between the two giants have been marred with grotesque violence. It’s always been about bragging rights rather than actual glory. A struggle for ‘The Best of Kenya’ title has kept these two adversaries in battle for over a half a century. Games kick-off in a so too do 90 minutes of ear-bursting and nerve-jangling atmosphere.

From occasion to occasion, things have become too heated that pundits have been tempted to compare Gor Vs AFC to Roma Versus Lazio, one of the world’s most violent soccer derbies. The match between Rome’s top two clubs is infamous for flares and fascists. It is perhaps surprising that such a devilish rivalry exists in a city shared with God’s top man – The Pope.

The history is straightforward. The violence started ages ago when Italian dictator Mussolini merged three clubs in an attempt to create a counterpoint to the dominance of Juventus and the Milans. Lazio refused to join. Both sets of Ultras are a violent lot. Note that in 2004 an on-field war between fans led to 13 arrests and 170 injured police. No fan was injured. Only the 5.0

Back home, tensions were building up. I cannot deny it. I was eager to see how Vera would flee the scene if tear gas became an air component. In fact my phone camera was on all the time, ready to record the money clip. Would she have made a quick dash like a Kalenjin runner or would she have thumped heavily on the ground like Godzilla, leaving a quake in her wake? That was to be seen

In the long run, everything turned out awesome. The good thing about Vera is that she is never difficult to deal with. Whereas other socialites are arrogant eggheads, she is humble. She’s sweet to her haters, always retweeting even when they insult her and she stays tender to her admirers.

As she placed her huge butt on that VIP seat, all attention shifted to her. Suddenly the crowd felt as if they had three balls to concentrate on. One on the field and two on a seat. Supporters of the two sides were too busy craning their necks to see where she was seated rather than watch the match or rant about bad referee decisions. K’ogallo divas were busy gossiping how someone had stolen the show.  Players of both teams were working extra hard too, you’d think Jose Mourinho was in the stands. No wonder the match ended in a stalemate. A draw because everyone put on their best game. Everyone seemed per-occupied with something. Quite unusual.

 

It’s common for the male species to impress the female species and when a female of the upper echelons is present, the desire to impress gets even stronger. Theoretically, that’s what happened. No one wanted to put on their worst behavior. Stones were left unturned and only eyes and mouths did the job.

Rapper Kristoff was the lucky guy seated next to Vera and the n**gga couldn’t stop smiling. It’s amazing what the allure of a woman does to men. From fans to askaris, everyone was  unusually overjoyed. Apart from one or two altercations between players, everything else was good.

In our nation, the game is rife with corruption allegations hence this once great on-field battle has threatened to leave its better days in the past. The presence of influential faces in the stadium is what the game needs right now. Such is essential in adding scent to the atmosphere. Fallen RECCE squad genius Bernard Tonui was laid to rest in his farm in Bomet County after he lost his life saving the Garissa University students trapped by Al Shabaab insurgents who killed their 147 colleagues.

But one thing that stood out during the burial is the sad reality that Tonui, despite working for the government in one of its finest and most effective entities, lived in abject poverty and was the sole breadwinner for his family.

His demise was therefore the worst blow the family received.

Activist Bonface Mwangi attended Tonui’s burial and covered every detail of the proceedings and painted a clear picture of the desolate life his family were left in.

His posts on facebook have since attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans, with many castigating the government for neglecting its servants.

This has prompted many to suggest for an idea to help Tonui’s family. Among those who have promised their support is Mike Sonko who has urged Boniface to start an online campaign to collect money for the Tonui family.

Sonko shared photos Boniface posted and promised who is part of any deal to help the family. He said:

Boniface Mwangi, why don’t you initiate an online fundraising and i can assure you we will contribute as much as possible to make sure the family lives a descent life, especially her daughter!

 

Before the tragic attack on Garissa University College, Bernard Tonui was a lone member of the famous Israeli-trained ‘Recce Group’ of the paramilitary wing GSU.

During the attack, Mr. Tonui gallantly put his life on the line to fight the Al-shabaab insurgents who had wrecked havoc on Garissa University. Unfortunately, Tonui was killed in the line of duty. Boniface Mwangi attended his burial and had this tale to share:

Travelled to Cheleget village in Bomet County to bury Kenya’s hero Recce squad Bernard Tonui who was killed while rescuing Garissa University students. The men who flew to Garissa to spectate while RECCe squad travelled by road didn’t attend the funeral. Bomet’s Governor is Isaac Ruto,he was also the area MP for 10 years. The area has no elect

ricity, water or even roads and all the elected leaders arrived at the funeral using choppers.
Three choppers landed to “witness” Tonui’s funeral. Tonui was in the police service for 18 years and twice he was trained in the USA. The government spent millions training him but by the time of his death he was earning about Ksh 36000 ($400). Police officers do not have life insurance and the medical cover they were supposed to get hasn’t been effected. Tonui meager salary could only be enough to build a mud walled house for his wife Nelly and their four kids.

The politicians arrived late, got the best seats, politicked for so long and they had to be begged to stop so the burial could happen before 6pm. Once the time came to bury Tonui,the politicians with their poorly paid bodyguards disappeared. Tonui is one of the many police officers who sacrifice their lives for us but once they’re buried we move on. A dead politician is worth millions in compensation, a dead cop gets a coffin and a lorry to transport the body. Police officers deserve better
