Kayvo KForce makes his mark once again with this hot new video

Still reppin’ his hood, still keeping it real, Kayvo KForce is still burning red hot with hip hop. Always spitting out bars with an accent that might get you confused about his hood (Kibera), he isn’t about to put down the mic anytime soon.

With his new track ‘Rhyming’, Kayvo is maintaining his relevance in the music industry, slowly stepping up his game in video quality. This video not only symbolises his progress, but also just goes to show that ambition can be very powerful if well manipulated.

Here is Kayvo KForce’s new video, ‘Rhyming’. It’s as real as it gets.

Is Kaka Sungura Now A “Zuzu”?

Kaka Sungura AKA Rabbit has put his head together with Calif Records’ Walking Class hit maker Ala C to come up with Zuzu. The single would be the first work of genius between the two artistes.

In essence, Zuzu is inspired by an experience that Ala C had with a certain girl and expected to hit the airwaves in a few weeks. The youthful musician explains that he enjoys doing music because he not only finds it entertaining but also educative.

It will be an interesting track to check out considering the two singers have previously done great job music-wise. Rabbit in particular, already has an album under his name which features guest appearances from Abbas, Chiwawa, Zakaa and Anto-neosoul. Because of this, Rabbit has been dubbed the new sensation, poet and one of the greatest storytellers of all times.

Let’s wait and see how it plays out.

Q-Tasi’s Coastal Tour kicks off tomorrow… on his birthday!

Q-Tasi has had a lot going on for him for the past few months, including lucrative deals with huge companies, not to mention the number of concerts that he has been performing at. Now, he is about to start his own tour. Legooo!

Q-Tasi is about to kick off his ‘Narudi Ocha Tour’ tomorrow at full throttle. No stopping for nothing but shows. Being his birthday and all (21st September 2012), Q-Tasi will celebrate it on stage during his tour. First stop, Club Kienyeji, Malindi. He will be performing here tomorrow, marking the beginning of his tour and his birthday celebration at the same time.

On the 22nd of September (Saturday), he and his entourage will be heading over to Taveta, where he will hold it down for his fans at Club Tango. From what I’ve heard about this club, Q-Tasi will wish he celebrated his birthday here. WICKED!!!

On the 23rd of September, they will be down at Voi. The Voi concert will be a family show that will be held at Club Galaxy. Later at night, they will wrap up the day with a show at Club The Office, Likoni.

An exciting tour this will be. For those that will be at the Coast this weekend, you don’t want to miss this.

Willy Paul and Gloria Muliro Fall Out Over Money

If you watch and listen to Kenyan Gospel music then you definitely know Sitolia. After releasing one of the biggest single in the Gospel music scene, it has not been a rosy affair between Willy Paul and Gloria Muliro as far as royalties are concerned.

Speaking to Willy M. Tuva yesterday on Mambo Mseto on Radio Citizen, Willy Paul indeed admitted that there was friction between him and Gloria over payments accrued from their hit maker. He was however quick to point out that they have since resolved their differences and are currently in good terms.

“Tuliskizana kuwa mambo ya payment itakua 50/50”, said Willy Paul when asked about what he had agreed on with Gloria. Questioned whether he was the first one to extend the olive branch, Willy Paul said, “After Mungu alizungumza na mimi niliona ni vyema nimpigie lakini nikapata user busy. Kumbe ata yeye alikua ananipigia saizo na akapata user busy. So tukatumiana  texts,” disclosed Willy Paul.

Sitolia is currently enjoying massive airplay and a quick spot check reveals that the track is one of the most viewed in the country with over 160,000 hits since its debut 7 months ago.

“I Will Not Apologize” — Caroline Mutoko Responds to Plagiarism Claims

Looks Caroline Mutoko was called out by her own paper over her plagiarism of a blog (read about that here).

On The Star, Karen Rothmyer questioned Ms. Mutoko’s actions and claimed to have sent her an email and even published part of her response on her article. And this is what the columnist who is also a breakfast show host had to say about the whole issue.

I will not apologize or respond to nonsense that tries to imply I may have borrowed something from the internet. I borrow from everything around me–cocktail parties I go to, baby showers, I borrow from drunkards, thieves, cab drivers and my housekeeper–I borrow from the lines of songs I listen to and tweets I read and even posts on Nicki Minaj’s FB wall…I am no copy cat–I am the original and I’m different and that’s tough for some people to take.”

This statement was ‘borrowed’ from The Star

You are invited to the unofficial 7S After Party

The Safaricom Sevens is here yet again, and you know what that means… PARTY! Oh, and support of our teams (that goes without saying). But let’s just be honest, nothing wraps up a rugby game better than an epic after party, whether official or not.

Well, an unoficial after party for the 7S has already been set and organised. Win or lose, you are definitely going to have a blast at this one.

Dubbed as the ‘Full back Plan’, (get it?… “full back”), this after party will be going down at Sheebeen The Bar, Upper Hill, from 7PM till dawn, this Saturday (22nd September 2012) courtesy of the Sheebeen management and the Ministry of rugby fraternity. Entry is absolutely free.

If there was ever a good reason for you to come down to the Sheebeen this Saturday i9s the fact that all drinks will be unbelievably cheap. SERIOUSLY! And with the one and only DJ Joe Mfalme on the decks, what more could you ask for?

 joe

Dress Code, you ask? That’s pretty simple. Just keep it Kenyan.

Capital FM Loses Its Breakfast Show Presenter

Kenya’s “Best Mix of Music” radio station has once again lost one of its best presenters in their breakfast show segment (6am-10am). Chris Foot was until his departure the Capital In The Morning show presenter.

Speaking as a guest today morning on a show he used to host, Chris spoke highly of his time at the leading urbanite radio station. When he joined Capital, Chris hosted the breakfast show with Etta Ligale before Janice Njiru was brought on board as his co-presenter. Chris wasn’t quick to leave without a message to his fans, “Sadly its time 2 say goodbye 2 @984inthemorning.u’ve been delightful & discerning listeners-its been a privilege & a joy. Baraka & God Bless”.

A farmer, safari guide, recovering lawyer, businessman, frustrated politician and polo player Chris Foot is the real definition of a jack of all trades. Capital In The Morning has had its fair share of presenters in the past some of whom are rumored to have been shown the door due to meagre ratings of the show during their tenure. The show is currently hosted by Wacuka and Maqbul.

We wish Chris all the best in his next venture.

Photos: Raila & Jay-Z Wearing Octopizzo’s T-Shirts…Kinda!

We showed you a couple of photos with celebrities wearing Octopizzo’s new Ivo Ivo tees (check it out here). From P-Unit members to Size 8, the Namba Nane ambassador is making sure he gets the best publicity for his tees.

When he can’t get the celebrities to wear his shirts, then he will do it by force…kinda. Yesterday, he posted a photo of (fellow) rapper, (fellow) businessman and (fellow) Illuminati suspect, Jay-Z wearing the new tee.

The next photo looks less realistic but still, they tried. The Prime Minister, who is also Octo’s MP just had to be the first ones rocking the tee. Check it out below.

Mustapha is set to perform his latest single Kupe alongside Kenzo, who is famed for his Jiwachilie hit in Machakos this Saturday from 10AM at the Naivas Super Centre.

The former member of the Deux Vultures and Ogopa DJ recording artiste, Colonel Mustapha who released a new video in July will be partnering with Kenzo who is also well known to most Kenyans for his hit song Mama Milka.

Last month the two musicians performed in Nyeri during the 2nd Chapter of Miss Central Beauty Pageant and their act was grand. The artistes are enthusiastic that this event will not be an exception.

Well, Machakos, that’s what’s up for the weekend.

Kenyan Breaking New Grounds in Fashion in Australia

Naomi Kiarie is one of the Kenyans in the diaspora who are making their presence felt. Naomi, together with a friend, Winnie Wesaala, founded an African-inspired fashion brand, Bangili Jangili, which creates a range of products including bags, earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings and headbands.

Speaking to Manly Daily, an Australian daily, Naomi said, “The range combines traditional African colours, styles and materials to bring some of the African vibe into the Australian culture.” Right now, the new fashion is grabbing a lot of attention something that the two Kenyans did not imagine when they established the venture.

The design work for the master piece usually takes about five days a week with three hours a day. For now the two ladies are upbeat that their work of art will become widely acknowledged around the world.

Photo Gallery: The Action-packed Coke Zero Launch

Coca-Cola launched their latest product, Coke Zero in an action-packed event at their headquarters.

The company now offers regular Coke, Coke Light and Coke Zero in the Kenyan market as part of its strategy to drive choice and variety to suit different consumer lifestyles and occasion needs.

In line with the brands personality, guests at the launch were surprised by men dressed as SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team who stormed the venue searching for a mysterious package with sounds of sirens and a chopper in the background. The SWAT team then broke into a container on the stage and extracted large ice blocks containing frozen Coca-Cola Zero.

Xcalibar collaborating with Stella Mwangi on his new track

By now you are familiar with the Nokia: Don’t Break The Beat finalist and winner of the East African contest. Xcalibar came out of the contest not just as the winner of the Sh. 250, 000, but also the one who gets all the deals and perks that come with the King of Freestyle title.

Some of the deals that came with the quarter million was a one year recording deal at a well established studio, plus a completely sorted out collaboration with Stella Mwangi aka STL. You know that this track will be a hit, whether you like it or not. That’s just how it goes.

Xcalibar and STL have not yet planned out the theme of the song or anything of that matter, but the track is definitely on its way.

Check out the interview below for more details on Xcalibar’s projects now that he has a quarter million in his pockets.

Xcalibar: I don’t get groupies!… Can you believe this guy?

So, we managed to get the winner of the just concluded Nokia: Don’t Break The Beat East Africa contest, Xcalibar in the Ghafla! offices and got to know a lot about the guy, aside from what he plans to do with the Sh. 250, 000 he won.

Dude is calm and collected and knows exactly what he wants to do and when to do it. It was a really interesting interview.

However, I got to learn something about him that shocked me. Unlike most rappers, Xcalibar claims that he is not into the groupies that come with the territory. “Not at all,” he says. After every concert, he leaves the venue immediately after his performance to avoid all the female attention. Can you believe this?

No, really! Check out the interview below.

Kenyan Songstress Wins Best Music Video at Nigerian Film Festival

The endowed Afro-pop singer Nina Ogot managed to keep her song Wololo on the award list despite being released over a year ago. The song Wololo describes humanities constant pursuit of wealth, power and fame at the expense of a good quality life full of love and simplicity.

The Kenyan songstress was awarded during the first ever African Student Film Festival. The event was afriffborn out of born out of deep thoughts for the future of the beautiful continent of Africa, in order to protect our cultural values and also to promote them to the international world.

Nina (together with Muthoni DQ) is currently in the US for ONE Beat music festival representing the country.  Besides being a musician, Nina is a former Radio France International presenter of Kenyan show ‘Bonjour Culture’ as well as former presenter of Citizen TV’s ‘Afro-Dizzia’.

Check out the award winning video below;

Guess which video is currently going head to head with Camp Mulla’s ‘Feel no Pain’?

Camp Mulla’s feel no pain track has definitely taken over the Kenyan YouTube charts. Without a doubt. In one week, it knocked out all of its competitors and took over the number one spot. With 230 likes and 43, 362 views, only one Kenyan video is going head to head with it in terms of likes.

The competitor is non other than the eight cornered man, Octopizzo. His ‘Ivo ivo ivo’ video got everyone talking almost as much as they are about ‘Feel no pain’. Everything these guys do just end up on the front page of entertainment news. They got what it takes, yes?

‘Ivo ivo ivo’ currently has 219 likes and is slowly taking back its number one spot of the most liked Kenyan music videos.

Three questions I have for event organizers and promoters of concerts

These are matters that you as organisers and promoters should take seriously in order to get the best out of your events and concerts. This does not apply to all organisers though. Only those that have no idea of what they are doing.

1. Why do you have a VIP section if it is no different from the regular section?
Many a times we have been invited to these events, at the V.I.P to get the best of footage, and we don’t get surprised at all when we find out that the only thing setting the V.I.P area apart from the Regular area is a fence. Yes, a fence. No free drinks as promised, no special service, only seats that cater for you when you eventually get bored, because trust me, you will get bored. These kinds of V.I.P areas make the regular sections look way more interesting. I usually pity those that actually paid an arm and a leg to feel this special.

2. Organisers, why aren’t you organised?
Most of you organisers really have to step up your game. Seeing that you are organisers and all, fans expect to find a well lined up list of performers and a schedule to follow. How then, will an artiste start complaining about him not having been told about certain things like say, he/she is opening up for another artiste and is not the actual main performer! That really hurt a certain international artiste who came down to Kenya a few months ago.

3. Will you just pay the artiste in full please?
It would be really cool if we could avoid this little incidents of embarrassment when an artiste, especially international artiste, complains shortly after their performance that the organisers and promoters failed to keep their end of the bargain. You guys do realise that at this point your agency’s reputation has just been flushed down the toilet, right?

Only one more day left to welcome the ‘Fresh Fridays’

By the number of events coming up every other day, it is official that every night is a party here in Nairobi. That’s just how we do. Extremely dangerous, but loving every moment of it.

This Friday welcomes yet another epic event. One to welcome you into the weekend with a smile on your face. The event is dubbed ‘Fresh Fridays’ and will be going down for the first time, this Friday (21St September 2012).

Blixx Lounge is responsible for this night of the crazies so you already know where the party will be at.

On the decks will be deejays Ynot and Babu. Entry absolutely free.

Party starts at 9PM and ends at dawn. See you there.

Did you know Calif Records’ Ala-C Gave up Army Job to Do Music?

Would you give up a highflying career in the Army to get into the uncertain world of music? Ala C AKA Walking Class of Calif Records did it. The Walking Class hit maker saw it right to pass the coveted opportunity of joining the Kenya Airforce to become a singer.

From the look of things, it seems the decision paid off as the is artiste is currently getting good response for his song Walking Class. Ala C had just completed high school when he recruited for the Airforce and was lucky enough to get selected to undergo training.

The now singer/song writer/model however changed his mind to pursue his music goal and it indeed bore fruits because a month later he released his first single Kuwa Na Wewe. He has since recorded with Kendi (Barua), Jimw@t (Ndio Mimi) and K-Soja (Siku Yangu).

Ala C looks up to artistes like the late Michael Jackson, Ne-yo, R.Kelly and locally Jua Cali.

Boomba Clan’s Viq Uniq makes a come-back with a comical track

Remember Boomba Clan? Wait, who the hell would forget these guys? With hilarious tracks like ‘do not touch my car’, ‘African Timer’ and ‘Chonga Viazi’, these guys had everyone waiting for the next track they were going to drop. They were that good.

I don’t know what happened to them as a group since they aren’t doing much music these days, but one of them is definitely back on his grind. Viq Uniq has just dropped another track with fellow rapper, Kenrazy from the Ghipuka fame.

Yes, the song has some humor in it. I wouldn’t say as much as the Boomba Clan tracks had, but it is definitely catchy. The track is titled ‘hasara’ and states clearly what ladies take us guys through with all the high expectations that they come with in dates.

Check out the track below and tell us what you think of this come-back.

Video: Channel O’s meet and greet with Africa’s biggest celebrities at The Junction

Africa’s biggest and most entertaining celebrities gathered together at The Junction Mall last weekend for the Channel o meet and greet event. The event was marking and celebrating the beginning of Channel O News being reported from Nairobi.

The excitement was clear in both the celebrities and the fans as they all got to mingle together, sign autographs and even get creative with collaborations on the spot. Some of the celebrities that were in attendance were, Goldie, Prezzo, Khuli Chana, WizKiz, Camp Mulla, Eme Crew and Banky W just to name a few.

You might have heard about how the meet and greet went down, but have you seen the actual video of the event? Didn’t think so.

Check it out below.

Rick Ross Angers Nigerians. He Should Learn Something From This Kenyan Video

Africans be pretty good at making noise every time a Western video that shows them in less than impressive light is released.

If Africans can’t help themselves out of their situation, then maybe they should make poverty videos that are actually positive, the way The Very Best did in Kenya.

American rapper, Rick Rose recently released a video for his track, Hold Me Back which was shot in Nigeria. The video has angered Nigerians because it was shot in the Nigerian slums instead of the nicer places in the country. The video starts with the news broadcast of the Biafran War, then goes on to show different shots of either poverty or volatility in the country. Here’s the video.

{youtube}m9Xcs-78Xpo{/youtube}

The Very Best, a pop made up of a Brit and a Malawian came to Kenya to shoot a video for their political track, Yoshua Alikuti. The video was shot in Huruma and the Mathare slums, and somehow, they found a way to not only not make it negative, but also kinda funny.

The clip spoofs Lil’ Wayne’s famous A Milli clip and provides an alternative view to slums in Africa, without necessarily making fun of the people. All it does is glorify a certain lifestyle and shows us “it’s all good in the slums.” And the group got rewarded when they were nominated for the MOBOs. Read about it here.

Ole Itumbi Interview Part 3: I Am Helping Victims In Tana River

Talk of getting to see the man’s soft under belly!

Itumbi let us see his more vulnerable side: his humane side by letting us know that he does more than break controversial stories.

When i asked him about what humanitarian activities he does, i was pleasantly shocked to find out that he has taken it upon himself without the hubris and the hullabaloo of the media fanfare to do it.
He spoke of… Nah, watch to find out just what he has been doing to help the victims of the massacre.

Chim Obiajulu: What are your thoughts on the Tana River Region Massacre?
Dennis Itumbi: With what is going on at Tana River, you realise that alot of the people who want their stories told just want salvation. For instance, a mother and her child who’ve been hiding in a thicket near River Tana where and they were saying they’d been hiding in that thicket for some time and what they need is food. And when i asked them whether they would need Mpesa because i thought it was money they needed, they said they need food. Irrespective of the facts, i choose not to look at the merits of the case but to the issue that they are speaking about a particular matter and react to it. I spoke to Red Cross and did my bit to send help their way.

Part2: ITUMBI NAMES AN ICC WITNESS ON CAMERA DURING HIS GHAFLA INTERVIEW!

Of ethics, death threats, ICC Witness #4 and the case against him of international espionage!

And you heard that Itumbi leaked the ICC witness list aye? But the question now that we pose to him is was it ethical? Has he endangered the lives of the witnesses and more importantly how did he get the witness list?
Well, to set the ball rolling, Itumbi has categorically said that he used… GOOGLE to get the witness list!

google1.jpg

You heard me, the Google guys niftyy search engine gave him the witness list!

Chimwani Obiajulu: Do you think it was ethical to release the names of the witnesses given that it may have put them at risk?

Dennis Itumbi: That is an interesting question, thing is as i said before, my first interaction with the witness list was online so the names were out there anyway. So by adopting and showing people that these names are being leaked, i was playing my civic role of informing the ICC and the international community that the people they are claiming are protected, their names are already out there. And they had not noticed it, it was until i put it up that they noticed it… was it ethical to reveal the witnesses and put their lives into risk? That brings us back to the question, how protected are the witnesses? Because we are told they are ICC protected witnesses. So the fact that we can say Dennis Itumbi is a witness, even i don’t know whether you are a witness because the ICC has not told us so if i gave a name and i have not seen anything in writting saying that the names you released are actually our witnesses and if they do that, i will be able to react so let the ICC first confirm… I’ll tell you about a witness, there’s a witness who w know as Ndege who has been spotted with alot of scars on his body. i have gone to Naivasha and spoken to fishermen who worked with him since 1984 the guy has had that skin condition. In 1986 he hired the house which was burnt. The landlord is still alive (and) he is willing to give a story that the guy had the skin condition for all that time. After the post election violence he (Ndege) went and found his house burnt. He was a neighbour to a person of another tribe and he suspected that tribe to have burnt the house and he was so mad that he is the one who actuallu -and for this i am ready to go to court about- he is the one who burnt the neighbour’s house… Ndege unknowingly and in revenge tried to burn someone’s house and he ended up BURNING HIS OWN FAMILY!

Alai Makes Julie Gichuru and Kalekye Mumo Fight

Once again tech blogger, Robert Alai has proved that he is indeed a real philanthropist. The blogger has now organized a real boxing match for celebrities aimed towards raising funds for supporting female boxer, Conjestina Achieng’.

First in the ring on 3rd October will be Citizen TV’s, Julie Gichuru and Kiss FM’s radio queen, Kalekye Mumo. Dubbed the Celeb Boxing Match, the event is expected to raise funds for the boxer who is currently debilitated. Other TV personalities who are expected to take part include NTV’s Linda Ogutu who will “square it out” with Citizen TV’s Alice Odera.

Probably, the match that most people would so much be interested in will be the one featuring the Prime Minister’s wife, Ida Odinga and NARC Kenya’s chairperson, Martha Karua. Alai, Nonini and other celebrities are spearheading the Pamoja Conje Initiative and last week the fundraiser at Tamasha Hurlingham raised close to half a million. Other celebs lined up for the boxing match include Suzanna Owiyo and Pinky Ghelani.

Explosive Dennis Itumbi Interview Part 1: I Am Suing Robert Alai!

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the most controversial Kenyans of the day Dennis Itumbi…

And right off the bat he got the explosive interview on a flying start by telling us that he was suing Robert Alai!

alai-pic.jpg
You read right, Dennis Itumbi is suing his frienemy and fellow jail bird at the controversy penitentiary Robert Alai! Apparently, as always in Alai’s case, this stems from statements Alai put up on his blog and on twitter that Itumbi is challenging him to validate.

Chimwani Obiajulu: Why do you think controversy dogs you and Alai?

Dennis Ole Itumbi: I actually got into Twitter after Alai, then there’s one day we argued about something and since then it became an issue about me and Alai. But we sit with Alai! We share drinks, we’ve sat down and discussed issues about how to handle some things, even on Twitter. In fact there’s something we do together ensuring that people don’t do hate speech and we’ll always be together when things against this nation are mentioned. So I really don’t know what is… I think it is more out there that we have issues with Alai more than when I meet with him. That being said, two days ago Alai was in court. I finally served him with papers… I have a civil suit against him on the usage of Twitter. Partly because I think we should all be able to justify what we say on Twitter, that is why I am not afraid of the court cases I have before court. Because, it’s an opportunity for me to say what I say was true. Because, what should always guide you… is that if it’s true, then there’s nothing in the world that can stop you. So basically if the controversy is because of our philosophical differences, perfect, and I hope Alai will sit here one day and I’m sure you’ll be able to confirm that… I gave him 14 days for him to apologise, having claimed that I doctored a UK dossier. He did not apologise, so I filed court papers… We even met face to face, and we agreed that one of the sites to which he posted, he should bring it down… he did not bring it down, so I think that means then he is sure what he said is true… I don’t want Alai in prison that’s why I’m doing a civil suit, not a criminal suit. What I want is Alai to appear in court and give the evidence he has that I doctored that….

And we spoke about the alleged hacking or “data interception” as Itumbi diplomatically put it of JetLink’s data… For those of you who don’t know, we also had a Ghafla Discussion on the same and everyone had alot to say about the allegations that Itumbi “intercepted data” that belonged to Jetlink potentially exposing a threat to our safety! From Nali, myself, Adam and the rest of the team, everyone had an opinion which you can get to see right here:
{youtube}RkGKPlbv-f4{/youtube}

Chimwani Obiajulu: With that said, you were recently in court, tell us about that.

Dennis Itumbi: Well i’d like to link that to a previous interview that was done within the confines of this room. First, Jetlink have not sued anybody. They have not sued anyone. There’s absolutely no case that Jetlink has taken Dennis Itumbi to court. Jetlink initially wanted to do a civil suit, which is them against me. They did not do that because then, the responsibility of truth would have been on them. So they chose the other way, to go to the police to the police and have a case and therefore it is the Republic (of Kenya) against Dennis Itumbi. Therefore, the person i am facing in court is not Jetlink but the Government of Kenya. Infact, jetlink officials are witnesses. The person i am facing in court is a prosecutor from the Attorney General’s office so by Government. And therefore the burden of proof is criminal. And there’ll be two stages, the first will be for them to table there evidence to convince the court that i have a case to answer. After which the court will determine either i have a case to anwer or i do not have a case to answer. And at this particular moment unlike in a civil suit, mine is to sit and wait for the Government to actually prove -and the word here is not even hacking, it’s intercepted data- and in this case the burden of proof is abit harder.

And what did he say about the ICC hacking scandal? You can only find out here!

Ole Itumbi: The Most Explosive Interview Ghafla has Ever Done!

From arrests to death threats to hacking allegations to getting sued and suing a fellow blogger.

Dennis Itumbi has done it all and we had the pleasure of his company one sunny afternoon when we delved into the subject that is the man Itumbi. what makes him tick and what gives him the strength to get up every morning are topics we here didn’t deem fit to tackle as that is Dr. Phil’s cup of tea: we dove right into the controversy.

We plunged into the subject that is the brand he has constructed; blogger, journalist and hacker… Or is he? Is everything as it seems? These are simple ingredients that would make for an explosive interview and trust that Itumbi did not disappoint! He dug the dirt going as far as naming one of Ocampo’s key witnesses by name!

To find out more about this interview, keep it Ghafla as we serialize the brand that is Itumbi!

Things to understand before paying for V.I.P tickets to Kenyan concerts

First off, this is not a hate article to event organisers, promoters or to any venue whatsoever. I’m merely stating facts based on what I have witnessed in most concerts held right here in Kenya. I understand that we have a long way to go still, but if you’re going to make us pay that much for V.I.P tickets, they better be worth it. This however, does not apply to all concerts held in Kenya, but most.

5. There is no such thing as free food and drinks as promised in the adverts.

That was just meant to bait you to pay for the V.I.P tickets. If you are one of those sad cats that shift most of your money to the V.I.P tickets and keep loose change for transport because you know drinks are sorted, you are in for a rude shock. Unless it’s an Invite Only party, you better ‘jipanga’ on the drinks.

4. Top notch security? Yeah right!

Most of the concert I have attended, whether in the regular section or in the V.I.P, the only thing that has always separated the two is a fence. A chain link fence. It’s not even that high by the way. You can easily climb over it if need be. Is security good, you ask? Well, I’m not too sure about that. You tell me.

3. Do not go into the V.I.P section alone unless of-course you are confident enough that you will meet people you know or you are just very good with all sorts of people.

The crowd at the V.I.P is usually, sorry to say this, filled with elitists. They have no time for people they don’t know, or they just don’t think you are worth their time. If your plan is to pick up ladies in here, you better have a Chrysler packed up front.

2. The only thing that would make you a little bit comfortable in Kenya’s V.I.P sections (in open ground concerts) is the fact that there are seats available for you.

Up in the regular section, it’s all about staying vibrant and on toes plus, there are no seats at all, so this makes you feel a little bit special. But that’s just where it ends.

1. DO NOT EXPECT MUCH.
After reading all the above, I really don’t think I have to stress this. Keep your expectations of the V.I.P area really low, and you won’t be disappointed.
