For 8 months, Kenya’s curviest TV presenter has been off air.

Many of her fans have wondered what happened to the charming Tv presenter who has graced our screens for 10 years.

She recently revealed why she left TV in her blog jotting down this:

“For 10years all I’ve known is being on screen, yes with a couple of breaks in-between, but all the same on-screen has been the only thing I’ve known. Granted there is always room for improvement in everything we do and I still plan on returning some-day, but not in the same capacity and until I’m sure of how I want to do it, I’ll wait… & only until it’s abundantly clear then I will return…

As she lies peacefully in her mother’s laps or gets cradled by her father, Latiffah Chibu Dangote is blissfully unaware of the drama surrounding her conception.

King Lawrence, East Africa’s rubble-rouser claims that he fathered Latiffah, something which is contrary to what the public knows, that is Diamond fathered Tiffah.

In addition Lawrence has served Zari with papers demanding a paternity test ,papers which he posted on Instagram for good measure.

Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga left many laughing and shaking their heads in amazement after he unapologetically slammed a man.

Don’t let appearance deceive you! CJ Mutunga is usually a calm person, typical of a man with Solomonic wisdom.

It seems CNN’s ‘Hotbed of Terror’ slur has turned out to be more of a blessing than a curse. More and more international stars have come or confirmed they will be visiting Kenya.

Ever since the broadcaster insulted Kenya, Akon, Shaggy, Ne-Yo, Ice Prince, Yemi Alade, Ali Kiba and others have set their feet on Kenyan soil.

And now 5 Jamaican reggae artists are also coming! Peetah Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy Morgan, Nakhamyah Morgan and Memmalatel Morgan, who together constitutes Morgan Heritage band have confirmed they will be visiting the country next month.

The Jamaican siblings said they will be flying in on October 3^rd 2015. Details about who will be hosting them and which event they will be gracing haven’t been communicated yet.

Nazizi got married to Vini Leopald in 2008 at a low-key wedding ceremony in Jamia mosque away from the glaring cameras of the media.

Just like many people who get married, Nazizi hoped that hers would be happily ever after. But after 5 years, one which includes a year and a half of separation, their marriage hit the rocks.

However unlike her marriage, her divorce was not so low-key. Her divorce was unfortunately rocked by accusations of Nazizi wanting half of Vinnie’s money and lesbian accusations on Nazizi’s side , all of which Nazizi rubbished. And her ex, Vini concurred. In separate interviews, both of them say that the reason they got a divorce was because they decided go their separate ways.

So is Nazizi thinking of giving marriage a second chance? We sought to find out, and here is how the conversation went:

Ghafla: So you will never marry again?

If you are an ardent Twitter user, you probably know why the Higher Education Loans Board is trending.

But for those who use Twitter in passing, HELB is trending because of an announcement they made earlier.

HELB is now asking those that have cleared their loans acquire a HELB Compliance certificate. To apply for it you are required to provide high school examination certificate, University/College transcripts and Graduation certificate, a copy of your ID , Employer appointment letter and a bank slip of Ksh.1000 paid to HELB OPERATIONS. And the last part is what making many Kenyans on Twitter livid .With comments such as these making HELB the number one topic:

So far the brainy bumfull socialite is the ONLY one of her kind that has flown a private jet. Vera and Huddah are yet to convince us!

There are only three A-List socialites in Kenya; Vera Sidika, Huddah Monroe and Corazon Kwamboka. Others are still riding along Githurai lanes trying to catch up with the three.

Corazon recently graduated to join the class of Huddah and Vera yet she has the upper hand in as far as flying private is concerned.

A while back, the socialite sent shockwaves across the nation after photos popped showing her flying in a luxurious private jet.

The billionaire that granted Corazon the rare treat wasn’t unmasked neither did the socialite speak a word about the incident till now.

Corazon says the jet was flying her to some ritzy destination within the continent for her birthday celebration.

She however didn’t mention where she was flown to. All in all there is photograph evidence showing she flew a private jet.

When a woman is in a situation where she gets raped or survives a rape attempt, the question most people ask is “Were you dressed indecently ?” or “Where were you?” or “Did you provoke him?”

A sort of victim-shaming which has seen many women keep a rape ordeal to themselves for fear of vilification or judgmental questions.

But Ann Mbaru thankfully opened up about her near-rape ordeal, saving many women in the process. But unfortunately there were people who viewed her public declaration as a way of seeking for attention, with others blaming her ordeal on indecent dressing.

“I don’t expect everyone to understand what I experienced. I don’t expect to be heard but all I need is personal respect and an apology from the ‘social animal ‘ who almost raped me… I have not aired the full ordeal but kindly tolerate my posts. My index finger was twisted when I tried disarming someone’s father… Truth be told I was wearing black on black, and fully covered with no cleavage showing. It emotionally hurts when some of you say I was indecently dressed and I was not. Please don’t take this matter at hand if you were not there with me begging for my life to be set free. The situation is being handled by the police. It could have been your daughter, wife or friends at large. My finger was almost broken because of being alert and crying my heart out to be released. The man is known for doing that to women according to reliable sources. Arguably one of the best breakfast  radio show hosts in Kenya, Alex Mwakideu is a very popular radio personality among many radio listeners in the country.

He has been in the industry for quite some time now having started off with the national broadcaster, KBC, before crossing town to Mombasa Road for greener pastures.

But everybody has that person who brought them to this world, that person who withstood every challenge that came their way to raise them well, give them an education and teach them how to go about the very unpredictable situations.

And Alex has his own. The popular Radio Maisha presenter’s mother is turning another year today and the Mwakideu family is not hiding its joy at all.

Despite the challenges the mother has faced before, Alex and his family are celebrating her today and their prayer is that God grants her long life.

Last week, Evans Kidero deployed the Nairobi City County government’s Environmental Monitoring in a bid to curb littering, dumping and walking on grass.

We didn’t think it was serious until 71 people were arrested in the CBD. The offenders appeared before City Principle Magistrate M.W Njagi to face charges of littering.

Kidero says that the reason for these arbitrary arrests was that restoring Nairobi was expensive and they would do anything all within our powers to ensure sanity is brought back to this great city.

But Kenyans are not feeling this, mainly because these askaris are the vilest, most psychotic and most corrupt not forgetting cruel law-enforcers to ever walk the streets of Nairobi. Just last week traders complained of GETTING STABBED by the askaris, imagine that , they are actually worse offenders than the actual police.

And people have come out in droves to oppose this move writing this:

To start with, never call them Twitter ‘bigwigs’ again. If you do, you are probably misinformed, Larry Madowo advises.

“The man is what a clueless section of Twitter calls a “bigwig”, for his pseudo-influence and relatively high number of followers,” Larry writes in reference to Cyprian Nyakundi and his accomplice Xtian Dela, two hornbills on social media whom Ghafla! Kenya exposed for trying to extort 50M from Bidco to allegedly kill a negative story about the big corporate.

Everybody on Twitter knows these two individuals. They team up to intimidate whoever crosses their way thanks to the massive following they command, a following that in itself is suspect.

Remember when Robert Alai claimed Xtian Dela buys followers to be influential on social media? I reported this and gave my opinion in January this year. What followed were efforts by the two suspects to intimidate this blog and its writers. Ooh, even Baba Ghafla was not spared.

They told everyone that we are paid peanuts to write crap. Well, tuliachia Mungu.

In his Daily Nation column, Larry Madowo who discussed the two individuals on his The Trend Show last Friday picked from where he left and mercilessly discussed their actions of extortion that have cast them badly in the public eye.

Larry wonders why they use their social media influence to enrich themselves through unscrupulous means.

“There is a backstreet Twitter where you can pay an “influencer” to tarnish your competitor’s name or disparage someone whose nose you don’t like. In that dark corner of the Kenyan Twittersphere where I have not bothered to venture, there are also brokers that can then mediate between the slandered victim and said influencer to arrange “terms of engagement” that will make them “walk away” from the manufactured scandal,” Larry writes.

This is exactly what Nyakundi and Dela do to earn a living. Nyakundi has already been sued by Safaricom for defamation. Will he make it out of this?

Larry wonders why people who matter are not given the attention they deserve yet those who don’t are accorded the attention they don’t deserve.

Wife to Somali Prime Minister was held for hours at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after she was found in possession of gun bullets.

According to Nairobi News, Ms Asha Yassim Hassa, the wife of Mr Orma Sharmake, was found with 16 rounds of ammunition in her bag at the screening area as she was leaving for the US on Saturday morning.

Ms Asha was, however, released on a cash bail and allowed to proceed with her journey because of the agency of her journey.

According to the Kenya Airports Police Unit Deputy Commandant Joseph Nthenge, she will be charged in court when she returns from the US.

On interrogation, Ms Asha said that the bag belongs to her husband and that because she was in a hurry she did not check the contents in it.

She is not a licensed gun holder.

Anarlisa sarcastically encouraged bloggers to write about stuff that would earn them millions and make the society recognize them without the need for introductions.

“Being more privileged than others does not make anyone a different person and instead of spending all your life writing crap about people who are meaningful and yes real entrepreneurs creating employment in Kenya, do something with your life so your children can have a better life and the society can hopefully one day recognize you with no introductions.”

He made headlines when awarding winning writer Biko Zulu penned an emotional piece about his struggle with cancer that had seen him undergo four unsuccessful surgeries.

Literally, Jadudi’s family had run dry out of the desperation they were going through to have their son get the required treatment.

According to Biko Zulu, Jadudi contacted him a year ago and wanted him to tell people the need to stand against cancer. At first Biko ignored and a year later, Jadudi contacted him again. This time round he did something after head of African Cancer Foundation Zawadi Nyong’o tipped him of Jadudi’s condition.

Kenyans were rallied through Biko’s article and they managed to raise more than 6 million shillings for Jadudi.

And now the patient has safely landed in India ahead of his surgery that will help remove the tumor in his head.

Zawadi Nyong’o revealed the information and said: 

“Dear Kenyans, Jadudi has been admitted in Apollo Hospital in Chennai, India & will have his 4th brain tumor surgery this week. THANK YOU!”

She added: 

“Kenyans please pray that Jadudi’s 4th surgery is successful & that it is his LAST one ever. We need this Cancer soldier back home strong.”

Jadudi needed 1 million shillings but Kenyans were able to show their kind side and raised more than 6M under the trendy hash tag #1milliforJadudi.

Patronage and loyalty my foot! The national courier has been given the cold shoulder by a high profile individual. Perhaps not everybody is happy with KQ after all!

When news broke Kenya Airways made a mammoth loss of 29.7 billion shillings, Kenyans were quick to troll the national courier.

Lots of folks vowed NOT to use KQ opting for Ethiopian Airlines instead. Kenyans sang praises for the cross-border airline specifically singling out its HOT for days hostesses.

Back to the first lady, Margaret Kenyatta flew Ethiopian Airlines and this made lots of mouths have something to talk about.

Controversial blogger, Robert Alai, was first to cough when he learnt the First Lady snubbed the national courier.

“Even our First Lady now doesn’t trust KQ. She flies ET.” Wrote Alai.

Ironically Kenyans hailed Mrs. Kenyatta saying KQ can’t be trusted. (In whisper) Even when Ne-Yo flew Kenya Airways.

Most of the comments posted after Margaret was seen alighting from an Ethiopian Airline aircraft were not in favour of KQ; even though some questioned her patriotism.

Margaret is in Addis Ababa for the official inauguration of the new president of the Organization of African First Ladies Against HIV/Aids.

The First Lady spared time for marathon training. Uhuru’s wife drew lot of excitement in the Ethiopian capital after she was spotted running alongside her team.

Music Festivals Winners’ State Concert saw the head of state visiting Lake Side City of Kisumu where he was mobbed by residents who couldn’t get enough of him.

President Uhuru’s visit to Kisumu for Kenya Music Festival Winners’ State Concert was supposed to be the main topic emphasized by news outlets but that was not the case.

While the commander in chief’s main objective was to meet young talent in the country, Kisumu residents overshadowed the event the President graced.

Charged Kisumians mobbed the President’s convey as it was making its way along Oginga Odinga street forcing baba Ngina to act.

The love showed by city residents compelled Unye to address them. Security was watertight and the only way residents could express their joy was by shouting and waving at the head of state.

Kenya’s funniest comedian is wobbling on people’s tongues after he was spotted alighting from Air Force One’s sister plane!

Eric has never run shorts of pranks that make you want to lend him your attention even though you don’t feel like.

The slender comedian yesterday nailed it with his antic. Eric Omondi Untamed 5 is the reason why humorists received unwarranted attention.

The show was dubbed ‘Obama Homecoming’ and Eric made sure everything he did was reminiscing what the leader of free world did during his Kenyan visit.

Erico arrived on stage on board Air Force One. Yes! Only that Eric’s Air Force One wasn’t moving neither did it have the noise produced by jet engines.

Eric’s plane was a piece of word carefully painted to give it the look of the blue and white Boeing 747 that carries US President whenever he needs to fly.

Anywho, he made the audience laugh with his prank!

 Yesterday a meet of photography enthusiasts and beautiful Instagrammers drawn form all over Kenya met at the Kenya National archives at 6.am. Yes 6.am on a chilly Sunday morning. 

I was honored to be among them.

We braved the biting Sunday morning chill while waiting patiently for the glorious sunrise which would mark the start of the #instameet. When the sun rose, it’s shimmering rays playing beautifully with rising mist, eveyone came alive. Cameras started appearing from backpacks and make shift bags.

It was time.

The first photo that went on Instagram under the hashtags #AsiaWithAirtel and #facesOfKenya was of the Hilton Hotel, looking all majestic and stately as it reflected the morning sun rays.

We transversed Nairobi in search of moments to share with the world, took photos of anything and everything. We braved the morning chill  before calling the meet to an end at the Kenya Railways Museum, where like the vibrant, vivacious, full of life Instagrammers we are, took more photos of the breathtaking museum with its imposing artifacts  of the gone times.

The meet that started at 6 a.m ended at around 12 with the attendees going home with gift hampers from Airtel Kenya.
By midnight tonight, one lucky Instagrammer who attended the meet will get a one in a lifetime chance to travel to Malaysia, courtesy of Airtel Kenya for the grandest Instameet of them all!

 Last week Governor Evans Kidero unveiled a new team of trained individuals whose mandate is to ensure the famous grass, the streets and generally the capital remains clean by arresting whoever found littering the city.

Yes, it was late last week but the team has already hit the ground running.

Today, close to 72 Nairobians were arrested by the Nairobi City County’s Environmental  Monitoring and Enforcement team.

According to a statement by the governor, the 71 were found either stepping on the grass, littering the capital and other related things.

The governor warned that no one will be spared in this latest drive to make the city clean and attractive. It should be a city in the sun.

However, a section of Kenyans expressed their displeasure at the arrests, with some saying they are unlawfully and the team is very brutal from the manner it handles the suspects.

Some of those enraged had this to say:

Samuel Samoke One day I bought a banana and I saw these Environmental monitoring and enforcement goons. I decided to carry my peelings as I walked through city hall. They followed me all the way to Anniversary towers waiting me to dispose them on the road and jump in. I dispposed the peeling at the garbage bin outside the anniversary and they were frustrated a lot. They are seriously looking for mistakes and when they dont find they feel so frustrated. I dont like they way they handle offenders. They manhandle you. They abuse you. They insult you. Sometimes you can mistakes them as thugs. They are sometimes drunk and dirty. Arrogant and ignorant. If they get you, you have no rights. The city needs to be clean but sanity is also important.

Harold Murithi Evans Kidero……the city is full of muggers, robbers, street urchins, potholes….then all you tell us is about grass and flower beds?……. have you driven along Kasarani- Mwiki- Njiru road of late? l drove on that road on Saturday and this morning and I really pity the residents down there, investors, matatu owners………..I think you need to go down that road……not on foot like you like doing on Uhuru highway….but on a saloon car and then your flowerbeds and grass will lose all meaning.
