‘Gudi Gudi’ is arguably the biggest hit song of 2016; the song has made Everlast, Naiboi and Kristoff become some of the most sought after musicians in Kenya.
The six musicians travelled to Eldoret town last week to perform at Club 411 on Saturday March 4th 2017 in a party dubbed ‘The Red White Affair’.
Everlast struck a deal with the promoter -Joel Kelvin Mukoma who paid them a down payment of an undisclosed amount before they performed. Mr. Mukoma was to pay the artists a further Kes 64,000 after they performed.
But the cunning promoter didn’t live up to his end of the bargain, he vanished before paying Kes 64,000 while the six musicians were on stage performing. The artists’ manager Mr. Julius Guya tried calling Mukoma but he didn’t pick up his calls. He has since refused to pick his calls to date.

Everlast, Naiboi and Kristoff carried on with their performance despite being informed that the crafty promoter had gone underground.
The six musicians revealed that they sensed there was something amiss about Kelvin Mukoma even before he conned them, apparently the promoter couldn’t even offer them a decent meal and accommodation when they arrived in Eldoret a day before their performance.
Everlast through their lawyer wrote to Kelvin Mukoma instructing him to pay them the Kes 64,000 failure to which they will institute appropriate legal action to enforce their agreement.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was treated for food poisoning at Karen Hospital on Wednesday March 8th.
Raila’s spokesman Dennis Onyango told the press that the Cord leader was treated for food poisoning and allowed to go home. He further revealed that Raila would leave for South Africa on Thursday to visit his sickly daughter Rosemary.

Word in the street is that KTN anchor Lindah Oguttu has been off air because she had been suspended by deputy managing editor.
Lindah has been off the air for quite some time, her absence was noted by her fans who have been asking about her whereabouts on social media.
A source at the Mombasa road-based media house divulged to Ghafla! that the curvaceous anchor was serving suspension over alleged indecent dressing.
The source said Lindah had been warned about her dressing, and when she defied the warning deputy managing editor Helen Wanjiru was forced to suspend her.
Apparently Lindah’s suspension stipulated that she had to report to work daily at the Standard group headquarters on Mombasa Road even though she was not going on air to anchor news as normal.
The allegation of Lindah’s suspension has not been proved KTN management or by Lindah Oguttu herself.

Kenyan musicians have been fighting a losing battle to have local media prioritize local content over foreign content. Artists staged protests last year in regard to the same but parliament turned a deaf ear to them.

Vanessa Mdee was arrested yesterday by the Tanzanian police as she is believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Her arrest come 4 weeks after the likes of Wema Sepetu, TID and Diamond Platnumz small brother spent about a week in police custody.
According to reports Vanessa Mdee was arrested yesterday and has since not been released. She might be going through the same procedure carried after Wema Sepetu was arrested however the police have not released an official statement to confirm whether any drugs were found in her possession during her arrest.

The 29 year old had been in South Africa working when her name was listed among the notorious celebrity drug traffickers in Tanzania. Her lawyer, Aman Tenga has confirmed that she was indeed arrested but she will be released as soon as possible.

News reaching Ghafla! indicate that James Smart has quit KTN for good. Smart began his illustrious TV career at NTV before joining KTN; he’s the brainchild of the Trend.
Smart briefly left KTN in 2014 and travelled to the UK where he studied International Journalism MA at Cardiff University.

Popular Hollywood actor Will Smith arrived in Tanzania yesterday, he took photos with workers at Kilimanjaro airport before he went on with his business.
Apparently Big Brother Africa-Hotshots winner Idris Sultan was also in Kilimanjaro when Will Smith touched down.
Idris was seen photobombing Will Smith’s pictures, he claimed that he travelled to a game park with the American actor.

Julie Gichuru’s father-in-law Samuel Gichuru has been implicated in a massive corruption scandal alongside former Nambale MP Chris Okemo.
The two lost the money they stashed on Jersey Island after authorities there confiscated it in February 2016. The Royal Court of Jersey ordered the seizure of about Kes 520 million in the offshore account belonging to Windward Trading Ltd after the company pleaded guilty to four counts of money laundering.

Windward was created in the 1980s by Samuel Gichuru to receive kickbacks for the award of tenders to foreign firms during his tenure at Kenya Power. The funds were disguised as consultancy fees or commissions charged to the companies.
Okemo, who was the then Finance minister, was named as a beneficiary of bribes Mr. Gichuru received from foreign firms. The two are wanted in Jersey on money laundering and fraud charges.
Daily Nation reports that Kenya and Jersey signed an agreement on March 3rd 2017 to pave way for the return of more than Kes 380 million the former Kenya Power boss stashed in Jersey.

Popular KBC radio presenter Micheal Wandera is no more. The presenter who was known for his voice and show “Ulimwengu wa Michezo” passed on yesterday 6th March after a short illness as reported by his son.
Even at his old age the radio presenter was still active in delivering his show though he was based in Nakuru where he died. His son, Jamin, shared the sad new on his social media pages to announce and celebrate his dad who was a hero and a mentor to many. He wrote,

Popular comedian Sam West was among the Kenyan contingent that flew to the UK to show support to SportPesa All-Star. Other prominent persons who were in London for the game included Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri, Citizen TV’s Mike Okinyi and several journalists from Kenya.
Sam West documented his trip from the moment he arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to when he touched down at Heathrow airport in London.
The trip was full of fun, Sam West was taken for a tour of London and he also got to visit Emirates stadium – the home of Arsenal football club.
The comedian captured interesting moments during his trip – including the moment Tusker midfielder Humphrey Mieno scored a consolation goal for SportPesa All Stars.
